- Manage a mid-level giving portfolio including working with the Manager, Development on special appeals and personalized cultivation.
- Manage a portfolio of 400+ donors who give $1,000-$2,499 on an annual cumulative basis and have potential to increase their giving.
- Manage the process for daily thank you calls, emails, and notes for smaller sum donor in an effort to steward them into the mid-level donor pipeline.
- Assist in building donor-centric best practices for mid-level donors, with a focus on retention-based philanthropy.
- Implement mid-level program donor retention and upgrade strategies, ensuring it integrates with all other aspects of development and communications.
- Build relationships with mid-level donors via introduction packages, phone calls, personalized email communication, ongoing written contact, and events.
- Demonstrates perseverance, projects an optimistic and positive attitude, and conveys sensitivity and a sense of urgency to the needs of the donors.
- Cultivates donors by acknowledging and recognizing their gifts in a timely manner, consistently tracks in BBCRM and communicates the impact of their giving.
- Acts as primary contact for incoming phone calls and email requests from mid-level donors, soliciting feedback and tracking response in the database.
- In conjunction with the Development Directors and Prospect Researcher identifies donors who have moved beyond mid-level giving into major gift support.
- Meet clearly defined performance expectations as determined by the supervisor.
- Create reports as required by supervisor that accurately reflect caseload activity and performance.
- Able to prioritize tasks, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining strict attention to detail.
- Goal oriented with a high level of energy, enthusiasm, and dedication to the mission and goals of Operation Smile.
- Meets annual revenue goals as established in conjunction with the AVP, US Philanthropy.
- Participates in professional training to keep skills sharp and up to date.
- Adheres to the Association of Fundraising Professional's Code of Ethical Principles and Standards and the Donor Bill of Rights.
- Learn about Operation Smile programs and projects and effectively communicate the mission to donors.
- Conducting oneself in a professional, friendly, and truthful manner to donors.
- Meets with the AVP of US Philanthropy and strategy consultant manager on a weekly basis for accountability and to discuss approach and moves management.
- A minimum of 4-5 years of experience in annual giving, mid-level donor relationships or prospect research.
- Bachelor's degree in communications or a related field.
- Exposure to the field of fundraising/development and experience working with donor management and/or CRM software.
- Experience providing support to senior executives.
- High-level proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, and a working knowledge of search functions for donor research purposes.
- Knowledge/clear understanding of fundraising techniques and strategies.
- Demonstrate a strong donor service attitude.

General Description:
The Mid-Level Giving specialist will work closely with the Manager, Development to implement a comprehensive cultivation, stewardship and solicitation program for Operation Smile mid-level donors. Engage donors directly through personalized and integrated marketing communications and outreach that deepens their relationship with the organization. The Specialist is responsible for developing and executing the strategy for this highly valuable program using engagement opportunities, marketing materials, and upgrade strategies.
