      In our Middle School, you’ll teach and learn alongside ninety other faculty who embody the same intellectual curiosity, wholesome intensity, and creative spirit as our students.       Anticipated start date: August 1, 2024

      Supervisor: Director of Athletics

      Position Status: This position is a salaried, exempt, full-time, regular, 10-month position.

      Qualifications:

      • Strong background in Middle School Physical Education and/or related field(s). General undergraduate degree required. Degree in Physical Education or related field or discipline and/or master’s degree preferred

      • Demonstrated success coaching athletes and working with athletic teams and staff

      • Two or more years of Middle School teaching experience is preferred.

      • Deep understanding of the developmental and learning needs of Middle School children

      • Commitment to 21st century instructional strategies and familiarity with National Standards for K-12 Physical Education

      • Experience developing classrooms and curriculum that further Westminster’s commitment to equity and inclusion

      • Proficiency with a range of technologies and the ability to use them to enhance teaching and learning

      • The desire to continue learning by reading and implementing ideas from professional journals, attending workshops and conferences, taking courses, and collaborating with colleague


      OPPORTUNITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Teach four sections of Middle School PE

      • Teach and support students as part of the Homeroom advisory program

      • Coach at least two sports; priority given to candidates who can be head of Varsity program

      • Co-teach a 2-week immersive, interdisciplinary class during MayATL

      • Work directly with other Middle School teachers as part of a Professional Learning Community

      • Other duties as assigned

      PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

      While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; and engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to become CPR and First Aid Certified.

      While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may frequently walk on slippery or uneven surfaces. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.

      TRAVEL

      Travel is primarily local during the regular business day. Overnight and out-of-area travel may also be required.
