- Knowledge of large industrial oilfield and mining equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, valves, cyclones, crushers, conveyors etc.
- Inspection, disassemble, reassemble, installation, adjustment and maintenance of mechanical equipment on site.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues to identify problem and resolve.
- Safe lifting and rigging of large oversized industrial parts used in oilsands and mining industry.
- Experience with forklifts, rigging and overhead cranes.
- Safe use of power tools such as impact guns and Hytorc equipment.
- Working knowledge and use of a micrometer, calipers, dial indicators, and other tools necessary to measure and set required tolerances.
- Knowledge of pump alignment including use of alignment tools.
- Proactive pre-use inspection of tools and equipment.
- Read and understand technical drawings, blueprints and operation & maintenance manuals.
- Work well as part of a team or on own to ensure customers needs are met in the required timeline without compromising safety.
- Continuously driving safety and accountability.
- Plan, coordinate and manage the field service team’s daily activities, including personnel, equipment/tooling, trucks, travel/accommodations and parts. (Foreman only)
- Ensure all timesheets for all employees are completed daily to allow payroll to be processed and customer billed in a timely manner. (Foreman only)
- Provide employee evaluations and feedback to ensure all employees are meeting the required level or performance, including safety. (Foreman only)
- Completion of site-specific documentation, permits and other Weir and customer paperwork as necessary.
- Develop inspection reports documenting inspection data and findings.
- Participate and coordinate site project kick-offs where required.
- Interface with the customer and provide professional and courteous feedback in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of piping and API standards would be an asset.
- Provides quality workmanship in all tasks carried out on behalf of Weir Minerals.
- Electrical background would be beneficial.
- Ensures the safety of self and others.
- Compliance to company safety procedures and legal obligations
- Recognize, report and resolve all hazards.
- Intervene where unsafe practices are identified

- Be aware of physical limitations based upon job requirements
- Interprovincial Millwright diploma or Certified Engineering Technologist or equivalent is required, or Alberta Journeyman Millwright. Accepting 2nd, 3rd & 4th year apprentices(willing to train if applicant has experience in similar field)
- A minimum of 2-5 years of technical field service experience within mechanical, structural, industrial or mining fields. (Millwright)

- Prior experience in slurry pump disassembly, evaluation, inspection, repair and reassembly is required.
- Strong leadership skills with previous supervisory experience, leading teams in the field. (Foreman).

- Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and peripheral vision, and depth perception
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds

Business Need / Purpose of Role:
Weir Minerals Canada is seeking Contractor Millwrights and apprentices.
Field Service Millwrights and Millwright Apprentices are required to work for Weir Minerals Canada on a long term, reoccurring contract basis.
As Weir Minerals Canada continues to grow our field service work with our customers in all provinces throughout Canada, we require skilled contractor millwrights & foreman to join our team on an ‘as required’ contract basis.
Field Service Contractor Millwrights and Apprentices will work on customer sites for short duration outages and maintenance work in their home provinces and territories where required, however, there may also be a need to travel to other provinces and territories to provide support our customers.
Weir Minerals Canada Field Service team offers installation, refurbishment, retro-fit and repairs & maintenance of many types of industrial equipment including, pumps, knife gate valves, cyclone assemblies, screens, aggregate crushing equipment, gearboxes, conveyors and several other categories of mining and oil field related equipment.
We will provide training for those interested and committed to learning the trade.
