      JOB TITLE:

      Upward Bound Summer Program 2025 Team Leader

      JOB PURPOSE:

      -Provide adequate and appropriate supervision of project participants residing in the residence halls; Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills; Demonstrated mediation and conflict resolution skills; Ability to maintain confidentiality.

      -Dates of summer program (including training) are May 27th-July 3rd 2025

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      - Reside in the UW residence halls 6 days a week for the duration of the summer program May 27th-July 3rd 2025

      - Actively assist your team to be academically successful through active participation in classes, study halls, and other academically oriented activities.

      - Supervise and lead a team of UB/UBMS participants during the summer program.

      - Actively participate in an assigned research mentorship by attending all field trips, attending mentorship classes, and assisting participants to be successful in their research.

      · Encourage and role model participants’ appropriate residential behavior, including but not limited to, no running or yelling in the dorms and not being in opposite gender rooms with the door closed or without another staff member present.

      · Promote "team spirit," cohesiveness, and group and individual responsibility among participants by facilitating cooperation and group decision-making.

      - Consult with residential directors and/or UB/UBMS professional staff when group or individual participant issues arise.

      · Facilitate and assist with implementation of UB/UBMS and UW summer rules and regulations.

      -Resolve participant violations in a fair and consistent manner while adhering to the summer program violation process.

      · Transport participants and staff locally and regionally.

      · Attend all residential staff, research team, and UB/UBMS professional staff meetings, as required.

      · Complete dorm set-up and breakdown during the first and last weeks of the summer program, including cleaning, inventory of equipment and supplies, and moving equipment and supplies to and from storage.

      · Complete necessary paperwork within required timelines, including being accountable for project expenditures on team activities.

      REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

      This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

      Junior standing at the undergraduate level; student in good academic standing.

      Required education, licensure, certification, registration or other requirements:

      - Valid driver's license and ability to pass a UW Motor Vehicle Record check for professional travel is required

      - Successful criminal background check necessary for working with minors is required

      - Current certification in First Aid and CPR is required and will be provided during the week of training.

      DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

      -Bachelor’s degree

      -3.0 cumulative undergraduate GPA or higher

      - Ability to be on-call to respond to and resolve residential staff and participant issues on evenings and weekends for the duration of the summer program

      - Student majoring in Education
