- Review documents submitted by sales partners to identify and decide whether documents adhere to internal guidelines.
- Ensure files are properly documented for reporting.
- Building relationships with our sales partners.
- Process a high volume of files with attention to detail which involves multi-tasking, efficiently organizing and prioritizing workflows.
- Manage the underwriting of residential mortgage applications. Exercise sound financial judgment in granting loans within delegated limits.
- Manage your files with appropriate communication while working closely with the salesperson associated with the file.
- Manage service daily to ensure standards are met and/or exceeded.
- Interact with sales partners and other Bank departments to identify, resolve, and respond to issues as they arise.
- Identify and solve issues requiring a high degree of judgment and recommend solutions.
- 3-5 years of Mortgage Underwriting experience is a requirement.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the financial industry.
- Experience in the High Net Worth or Private banking space.
- Knowledge in complex deals.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong customer service and decisioning skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic team environment and handle several tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Sound knowledge of banking systems.

Manulife Bank & Trust’s Mortgage Underwriting department is looking for a Senior Mortgage Underwriter to join our Western team!
Day to day, the Mortgage Underwriter will review residential mortgage applications and assess them according to current regulations and Manulife Bank policies.
This area of the business has the responsibility of assessing credit risk of mortgage applications. This includes a financial debt service analysis, review of all documentation to support the application, and appraisal reports. The Mortgage Underwriter would work directly with our sales partners and is responsible to answer credit related and file submission questions. There is opportunity for cross training within the Mortgage Residential team.
This is a full-time Work from Home position and you can be based anywhere in Canada.

Salary range is expected to be between
