We're looking for a number of Motor Engineers to join our Claims department!

You will be providing engineering expertise that can be felt by colleagues and customers alike. We want to ensure that we have sufficient control of costs, alongside a positive & fair approach to customers and colleagues who will deliver a straightforward outcome.

We're flexible on location too! You can either be based at our Leicester or Bexhill-on-Sea offices (on a hybrid basis) or be fully remote, with occasional office visits.

What does day to day look like?

• Championing the Hastings Direct Engineering function through being approachable to customers and colleagues alike

• Being a dependable, vehicle & engineering expert, contributing where required to support colleagues or knowledge management material

• Reviewing all vehicle damage repair estimates presented consistently and in a timely manner

• Investigating and challenging repair estimates where appropriate, ensuring adequate cost control is in place whilst achieving best customer & commercial outcomes

• Constructively supporting, investigating and challenging external engineering assessors ensuring the right customer & commercial outcomes are achieved first time

• Supporting, reviewing and undertaking appropriate audit actions on suppliers when required

• Helping to grow our Engineering capability through identifying opportunities to continuously improve skills, knowledge & processes

• Constructively feeding back to support appropriate areas, colleagues, customers & their representatives and supplier partners

• Ensuring the relevant claims systems & supplier portals are kept up to date, following internal reserving philosophies and ensuring that system data accurately reflects the current or known position.

What we’d love you to have:

• Proven experience within the Motor industry with either bodywork or mechanical knowledge

• Ideally have experience of using Audatex and/or Glassmatix estimating systems

• Claims handling experience (Household and/or Motor) desirable

• Previous audit experience beneficial

• Desire to do the right thing

• Strong attention to detail

• Working knowledge of Microsoft packages

• Working knowledge of claims IT systems

• Sound reasoning with a pragmatic approach

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
