- Required: Must be Properly Placed (Highly Qualified) in accordance with Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA):
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in appropriate field
- Endorsement in English as a Second Language (NS), Bilingual Education (YA-YT), or Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)
- Demonstrated Technical Skills:
- Computer knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office and Google Suite, and other basic computer skills
- Familiarity with student information systems
- Possess computer competency and familiarity with emerging technologies
- Preferred: WIDA assessment knowledge or similar type experience
- Experience:
- Preferred: Experience teaching MLL students in a variety of grade levels
- Preferred: International experience or experience working with MLL or international families
- Commitment to meeting the needs of a diverse student population that includes students with special needs
- Compassionate collaborator who is knowledgeable about recent research in pedagogy in the field of second language acquisition and MLL education
- Possess an awareness of the developmental stages and well-being of children
- Public Relations Skills: Ability to relate to school age children, parents, teachers, and members of the community
- Possess the ability to analyze and interpret data and present it in a format that is easily understood
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness

- Organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines

- Work independently as well as with a team
- Facilitate instruction and support multilingual learners toward gaining proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing utilizing English Learner Development (ELD) standards
- Work collaboratively with other MLL teachers and staff to deliver one-on-one to small group instruction
- Provide MLL instruction to students using various modalities and structures
- Assist in administering the WIDA assessment and other required assessments
- Work with classroom teachers to support differentiated instruction
- Assist in developing appropriate curriculum to help MLL students acquire the English language
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and teaching strategies to meet different aptitudes and interests of students, including whole group (co-teaching)/ small-group, or individual learning
- Compile and maintain a profile summary (record of achievement and progress) for each student
- Gather and report data for reporting requirements and other required reports
- Maintain two-way communication logs with classroom teachers of students on caseload
- Establish and maintain communication with parents/families of students in the program
- Engage parents and families in student learning
- Participate in professional learning activities and staff meetings as required or assigned
- Attend IEP, Section 504, or other related meetings necessary for student assessment and/or compliance with federal and/or state law
- Attend and participate in established traditional school-sponsored activities (i.e, back-to-school night, open house, and other activities customarily attended by classroom teachers and/or faculty members), which may be outside of regular school hours
- Coordinate with district and building administrators
- Fine motor skills and ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, to lift and move equipment and supplies
- Able to stand or sit for long periods of time (up to entire shift as tasks require), as well as stoop, squat, bend, crouch, reach, kneel, and climb stairs frequently during the shift
- Able to ride in a vehicle, as necessary (e.g., training on occasion)
- Able to work indoors during all seasons/weather/temperatures as permitted
- Main point of contact for ESL tutors
- Provide instructional support for classroom teachers working with ML students
- Monitor academic progress for students who are identified as ML learners that have a WIDA score of 3.5 or higher, and students who have opted out of direct ML instructional support
- Help coordinate and facilitate ML family engagement events at the beginning and end of school year
- Assist in evaluating the progress of ML students
- Work collaboratively with building and district administration
- Ability to travel to and from four secondary buildings on a daily basis to deliver instruction.
- Communicate effectively via district-assigned email on a daily basis as determined by supervisor
- Accurately complete electronic time sheets and absence reporting via time keeping system, per assigned deadlines
- Regular and reliable attendance
- Consistent and reliable performance of job responsibilities
- Perform other job responsibilities deemed appropriate by the supervisor/building administrator and/or Superintendent
JOB SUMMARY: The Multilingual Learner (MLL) Teacher provides instruction to multilingual learners. .8 FTE Secondary ML Support Class Instructor and .2 FTE ML Teacher Advisor/Trainer
SALARY RANGE: $47,547-$102,907 (experienced based salary protection available)
REPORTS TO: Building Administration and/or Continuous Improvement & State/Federal Programs Specialist
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As per the current Midland County Education Association (MCEA) Agreement
