Facilitation of educational programming at events such as:

Outreach education - offsite with community partners

Visitor engagement - on the exhibit floors

Special events - on the exhibit floors

Formal programs support – in MPM classrooms and the exhibit floors

Administrative tasks such as:

Monitoring and updating department calendars (sending event invitations, tracking blocked days, inputting booked programs, etc.)

Assisting with department meeting minutes and post-meeting communications

Preparing for larger workshops, preparing materials for programming, other duties as assigned.

Interest in museum studies and/or education

Ability to work independently

Ability to work well with others

Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus

Description:
The Museum Education Intern reports to the Director of Education and Public Programs and will work along Education staff on a daily basis and will assist with daily operations that are essential for the development and delivery of quality educational programs and events at MPM, experiencing aspects of program development and delivery in our four areas of programming: Outreach, Informal Education, School & Formal Programs, and Special Events. This individual will also develop insight into how museum educators work with other departments to create the resources, programs, and events and best practices in the field of museum education and will receive professional development within the context of independent research as well as whole department workshops.

A fund of $2000 is available for wages for each intern, in addition to a $500 travel stipend that is independent from hourly wages. This internship will occur over 10-12 weeks (at approximately 16 hours per week), somewhat flexible, from June-August 2024.
