Job summary
Are you currently a GP in clinical practice with an interest in safeguarding. Do you have experience in working with adults at risk of abuse or neglect?
Cornwall and the Isles of Silly ICB is looking to recruit a named GP for safeguarding. We welcome applications for GPs who have experience safeguarding and are looking to develop their knowledge and skills across other areas and offer professional support and supervision.
The main purpose of the role is to provide support and advice about adult safeguarding to colleagues in general practice and to provide clinical expertise to the ICB and our partners across the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care System.
Working as part of a safeguarding team in the ICB, the successful candidate will provide oversight of safeguarding in primary care and provide strategic leadership to implement learning and improvements.
Main duties of the job
The main areas of responsibility are to;
Act as a strategic safeguarding professional lead on safeguarding and general practice for the NHS in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly
Promote good professional practice within GP settings including unscheduled care and out of hours services
Provide safeguarding expertise and advice to colleagues working in general practice and to our partners across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly
Liaise with provider organisations and other partners eg local councils, on local primary care arrangements for adult safeguarding
Promoting, influencing and developing relevant training for GPs and their teams for adult safeguarding
Providing advice and expertise to our safeguarding boards and partnerships
Implementing networks and forums for adult safeguarding for general practice
Providing support and supervision to safeguarding leads in general practice
Assisting with the development of and supporting general practice to complete multi agency audits
Working with designated professionals and colleagues working at place to share good practice, and implement changes in response to learning arising from safeguarding reviews
