5 years of industry experience, preferably in natural gas
A post-secondary education
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including vlookups, pivots, etc.
Knowledge of natural gas logistics, markets and pipeline nomination practices and systems
Strategic, Operational and Commercial acumen – Analyze internal and external drivers in order to strategize and optimize commercial opportunities
Relationship Building and Management – Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to establish and maintain business/commercial relationships in order to manage requirements, for timely resolution to problems, and optimize commercial transactions/execute commercial agreements.
Risk Identification and Management – Identify, understand and manage various risk in accordance with Suncor standards, policies and regulatory requirements
Familiarity with oil sands and refinery operations and their natural gas commercial requirements is an asset
A highly detail-oriented approach, with excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills, and the ability to anticipate requirements and take initiative
Ensure reliable scheduling of natural gas receipts and deliveries on pipelines across Canada and within the United States
Ensure reliable supply of natural gas is delivered to our operations by working with our sites to obtain gas demand forecasts and coordinating with the gas supply origination, scheduling, marketing and trading teams
Represent our team as a key point of contact for internal business areas, pipelines and other external counterparties
Address questions, concerns, opportunities and requests through problem-solving and analysis, developing presentations, and communicating clearly with stakeholders
Manage and optimize pipeline transportation contracts and find opportunities for improvement
Monitor pipeline operating conditions and market fundamentals to predict and proactively address pipeline capacity constraints
Manage and communicate supply and demand positions to traders, marketers, and originators
Reconcile and balance transactions in our deal entry system Triple Point (CXL and VCP), against scheduling spreadsheets, trade spreadsheets, pipeline systems and mid-office
Work with senior marketers to develop and present commercial proposals and negotiate and maintain agreements, and to provide information, expertise and recommendations on a wide range of natural gas commercial matters
Track data on pipeline transport, flows, utilization, etc., generate forecasts, accruals and invoices, and prepare monthly reports for business units
Identify and make recommendation for process and spreadsheet improvements
Create and maintain process documentation
You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs; rotating on-call schedule for the evenings, weekends, and/or holidays
