Help the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife fulfill its mission: To protect and enhance Oregon's fish and wildlife and their habitats for use and enjoyment by present and future generations.This permanent, full-time position is with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW). The successful candidate will have the option to work in Clackamas, Salem or Adair.
What you will do:
• Assists Program Manager with development of biennial budget for the Program, including development of scope of work for the program, including subcontractors. Monitors budget. Coordinates development of annual contract with BPA, subcontracts, real estate documents, quarterly reports, and other documents. Primary responsibility for ensuring program contract information is entered into BPA’s Pisces data system. Coordinates with other WWMP staff on Pisces entry. Coordinates with Divisions to ensure that budgets include adequate funding for DOJ costs associated with the program. Monitors DOJ expenditures and provide regular reports to Division and the Program Manager on attorney costs.
• Serves as the primary documentarian for program administrative data. Maintains project records through the federal and state systems of ODFW, BPA, and partner agencies. Assists the Program Manager in preparation of an annual program report for BPA and Council review, as well as annual reports of project-specific stewardship activities. Analyzes and disseminates information to ODFW personnel and cooperators in written, map and electronic forms for conservation and project planning. Coordinates with ODFW staff to develop and update maps and digital databases associated with the WWMP including the master project database, and associated GIS databases.
• Coordination of the Technical Review Team and Wildlife Advisory Group as needed, including scheduling meetings, developing agendas, developing and making presentations, documenting meeting results, etc. Ensures program consistency with other guiding plans and documents, including the Oregon Conservation Strategy. Ensures all purchase, planning, easement, and other documents are reviewed and approved by appropriate decision makers. Assists the Program Manager when developing program policies and plans, including public participation and review. Provides comments on other entities management plans at ODFW discretion.

Working Conditions• Evening and weekend work to attend meetings are common and required. Statewide travel at all times of the year under all kinds of weather conditions. Occasional exposure to severe weather conditions and periodic fieldwork involving foot travel on uneven ground. Infrequent contact with angry, upset or irate people.
• The duties of this position may include the use of a SPOTS Card for work-related purchases as a benefit to the agency.
• This position requires first aid and CPR training.
• This position requires a flexible work schedule that varies in the number of hours worked on a daily basis, but not necessarily each day, or a work schedule in which the starting and stopping times vary on a daily basis, but not necessarily each day, and does not exceed forty (40) hours in a workweek. Work exceeding 40 hours per week requires prior approval by the supervisor.
Criminal Records/DMV Check
Applicants are subject to both a criminal history and motor vehicles check. Driving is required for all positions. Out-of-state finalists will be required to present a current certified driving record for review to be considered for the position. Be prepared to obtain as soon as possible. You are expected to provide the out-of-state certified driving record before an offer can be made unless extenuating circumstances exist. Adverse background and/or driving information may disqualify you from further consideration.

• Three years of biological experience performing studies, research, or resource management activities in a fish or wildlife program (At least one year of the experience must be at a technical or professional level performing activities in a fish or wildlife program such as researching and analyzing data, conducting investigations, applying pertinent laws and regulations, or coordinating and monitoring project activities); AND A Bachelor's degree in Fisheries or Wildlife Science or a closely-related Bachelor's degree with at least 45 quarter (30 semester) hours of biological/ecological coursework;
OR;
• Six years of biological experience performing studies, research, or resource management activities in a fish or wildlife program.
A Master's degree in Fisheries or Wildlife Science or a closely-related Master's degree in biological/ecological sciences will substitute for up to one year of the required experience.
A Doctorate degree in Fisheries or Wildlife Science or a closely-related Doctorate degree in biological/ecological sciences will substitute for up to two years of the required experience.
Requested Skills:
• Employee must be skilled in communication and have basic knowledge of salmon, steelhead, coastal cutthroat trout, sucker and other trout species biology, life history and habitat requirements and be up to date on habitat assessment and restoration techniques.
• Knowledge of fish screening and passage issues and criteria. Knowledge of construction procedures/requirements is desirable.
• The ability to diplomatically deal with landowners, the public and the media are very important.
• Familiarity and proficiency with Windows, MS Word and MS Excel at beginning level.
