      Job Summary

      Responsible for planning, organizing and managing systems engineering functions for Internet Services, Systems Development Group. Plans new technology innovation and new features, supporting daily operations and facilitating team performance. Meets the systems engineering needs of future projects, directing activities to meet customer requirements, improving existing applications; and, implementing new process efficiencies to reduce costs and enhance customer satisfaction. Manages team which may include exempt and non-exempt employees. Serves as subject matter and provide guidance to employees as required. Develops processes and procedures to drive department efficiencies, assist in development and meeting of, departmental budget.

      Core Responsibilities

      • Review and provide input to new technical requirements
      • Ability to participate in defining overall approach and structure of lab designs
      • Work with Enterprise Network Engineering and Security Firewall Organizations to determine network needs to provide test environments needed to perform integration and testing of new Comcast products and services
      • Ensure that the QA Lab Integration environments accurately match QA needs
      • Assign project Subject Matter Expert and/or Lead Engineer for each project
      • Provide resources as necessary to aid in the design, installation, development, maintenance and configuration of all lab gear.
      • Assign resources as necessary to maintain the integration environments
      • Determine capital requirements and drive the purchase of lab equipment according to test schedules
      • Maintain up to date documentation reflecting current and future lab configurations
      • Provide reports on a weekly basis of all system design and maintenance activity
      • Develop weekly reports and presentation material for all levels of the organization
      • Coordinate activities between departments to ensure uninterrupted business operation
      • Travel between locations may be required. Labs are currently located in PA and NJ. The employee would be based in Downingtown, PA
      • Keeps abreast of the cable industry and upcoming projects to determine the means to implement changes in the existing network to accommodate technology, features and functionality.
      • Plans to meet and/or exceed the requirements of production operations.
      • Analyzes complex business needs via interaction with senior leadership, internal operational managers and external customers.
      • Examines new projects, forecasts new staffing requirements and reviews Company goals to prepare a systems engineering plan and budget.
      • Creates systems engineering (SE) standards, tools and processes by reviewing documentation and participating in SE organizations.
      • Leads user conferences to plan future projects and procedures. Creates and executes a plan to upgrade systems to meet future requirements using past experience and judgment as a guide.
      • Creates new technical solutions which enhance process efficiency, reduce cost and/or enhance customer and/or user satisfaction.
      • Evaluates new and evolving technology for applicability and impact on operational goals.
      • Analyzes system performances against customer requirements and directs corrective action.
      • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
      • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
      • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

      Employees at all levels are expected to:

      • Have 7+ years experience with Cisco, Juniper & Arista routers and switches
      • Understanding of scripting languages such as Ansible, Python, RUST & JAVA
      • Proficient knowledge in current internet standards including cabling, Switched & trunked and distribution networks
      • Strong knowledge of IP networks and equipment
      • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks for efficient work output
      • Ability to present and digest concepts quickly and multitask
      • Adapt to changing priorities, strong sense of urgency, willing to attack difficult and complex issues
      • A strong understanding of quality, process improvement and customer satisfaction
      • Ability to think analytically and to develop new or revised procedures and work flows
      • Demonstrated ability to create process diagrams and project schedules
      • Knowledgeable in testing methods such as white box, gray box systems
      • Knowledgeable in software development life cycles, Agile methods, including SCRUM processes

      Education

      Bachelor's Degree: Computer and Information Science

      While possessing the stated degree is preferred, Comcast also may consider applicants who hold some combination of coursework and experience, or who have extensive related professional experience.

      Certifications (if applicable)

      Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) - Cisco Systems, Inc., Juniper Networks Certified Associate - Junos (JNCIA-Junos) - Juniper Networks, Inc.
