      Join a dynamic and professional team of Christian Scientists to support the inspiring work of Mary Baker Eddy's published books and products by ensuring there is an authorized non-English Bible to be used in unison with translated publications, and in Christian Science church services worldwide.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

      1. Facilitate and administer all non-English Bible activity and Bible Society and / or Bible publisher relationships for TMC / CSPS (80%)
      • Hire and train outside contractors to conduct reviews and assist in the procurement of non-English Bibles
      • Collaborate with other departments regarding ongoing prioritization of languages
      • Serve as organization-wide resource for Bible questions, needs, and opportunities including those related to all Bibles used in CSPS products
      • Solicit ongoing input on needs, process, and outcome from other departments such as Bible Lesson Products (BLP), International Service Department (ISD), General Publications (GP), and Office of Language Services (OLS)
      • Establish and/or maintain a productive working relationship with relevant Bible Societies and publishers. Travel internationally to meet with Bible Societies, copyright owners, and publishers as appropriate

      Strategy

      • Advocate for Non-English Bible needs to ensure the long term goals of non-English Bible translations continue to be aligned with Mary Baker Eddy’s translated writings

      2. Administrative work (20%)

      • Maintain and update files and charts, including Board Action Memos (BAMS)
      • Organize and facilitate all project logistics, including legal paperwork, costs, contractor payments, schedules, and filing
      • Collaborate with OPA’s Print Production Manager on the purchase of new Bibles, identifying suppliers, cost, availability, and assisting with vendor communications in other languages as needed
      • Seek updated information, prepare and maintain documentation of copyright details relevant to all Bibles used within the organization; consult with and update other departments regularly
      • Document all current non-English Bible selection issues and decisions
      • Support research in other departments on an as needed basis

      Research and writing

      • Engage in departmental research projects as needed
      • Gather, track, analyze relevant customer feedback regarding OPA products from CCC
      • Draft and finalize correspondence as needed

      Communications

      • Present relevant information to BLP, GP, ISD, and other cross-departmental groups such as the Translations Group, and on occasion, the Christian Science Board of Directors
      • Coordinate with Journal, Sentinel, Herald and Publishing and Promotion & Design groups, the Office of Language Services in the Clerk’s Office, Bible Lesson Products, Herald editors, General Publications, the Mary Baker Eddy Library, the Customer Care Center, Office of the General Counsel, christianscience.com, and other in-house staff as needed

      Supervision: Publisher’s Agent
      Supervises: Bible Reviewers as vendors

      Regular Contacts
      The incumbent will work with OPA staff and other departments who also produce translations. This position has regular contact with many internal departments, as well as contact with Bible Societies and publishers in a variety of countries, and some contact with the Christian Science Board of Directors.

      JOB REQUIREMENTS

      Education/Experience
      College degree in communications, linguistics, international relations or related equivalent. Five (5) or more years of experience in a professional field with experience in international relations or communication preferred. Experience working internationally a plus. Working knowledge or fluency in one or more languages other than English a plus.

      Knowledge/Skills
      Spiritual discernment, humility, meekness. Incumbent should have strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a timely manner. Proven excellent written and oral communication skills required, including strong presentation skills. Demonstrated competence managing multiple projects in a first-rate fashion; must be good at setting priorities and initiating and fostering strong working relationships. Ability to maintain confidentiality and communicate and represent the teachings of Christian Science effectively to Christian publishing partners.

      Demonstrated problem-solver who takes initiative and has superb follow-through, information-gathering, and project management skills; intelligent, conscientious, and hardworking self-starter. Confident team player who also works well independently; expected to maintain a poised demeanor even in pressured or ambiguous situations. Must be delighted by the opportunity to deeply study Mary Baker Eddy’s writings and Bible translations in conjunction with this work.

      Technology Skills
      Google suite, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) skills are required. Must be comfortable learning new technology programs as appropriate.

      Work Environment
      This position is based in Boston, MA, but can be done remotely if necessary. An individual in this position should be comfortable in a highly prayerful, fast-paced, and flexible atmosphere.

      Engagement with Christian Science
      Membership in The Mother Church and Primary Class instruction required.
