- Nursing: Knowledge of the principles, methodologies, practices, and procedures of professional nursing as they pertain to health promotion and the treatment and prevention of diseases, injuries, and/or abnormalities.
- Health Research: Knowledge of the evidence-based principles, strategies, methods, processes, and best practices used to identify and define health issues and develop relevant research, investigations, evaluations, assessments, reporting of results, and recommendations.

- Current and active State of Alaska or other active state Register Nurse license REQUIRED. A current and active State of Alaska Registered Nurse license is required within 6 months of hire if an applicant possesses an active out-of-state Registered Nurse license.
- A valid Driver's License is required at the time of appointment.
- Requires frequent travel within the state, up to 1 week at a time, 1-2 times a month.

What You Will Be Doing:
As the Nurse Consultant 1 you will support the Health Facilities Licensing and Certification unit by surveying Medicaid/Medicare certified and licensed Health Care Facilities statewide, conducting professional on-site inspections and reviews of health care facilities. You survey a variety of facilities, including hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies, rural health clinics, birthing centers, ambulatory surgery centers, and outpatient physical therapy services, to name a few. Apply your professional knowledge and expertise in specialty areas such as nursing, medical technology, dietetics, or infection control to help vulnerable Alaskans.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
You will work in the heart of Anchorage with an office situated with views of the Chugach Range. There is ample parking and a high level of building security. To maintain a healthy working environment, you will have a hybrid workweek, teleworking four days of the five-day workweek. You will travel within the state two to three times each month to communities ranging in size from cities to rural villages, sometimes traveling by prop planes or by car. A love of travel and willingness to accept the challenges of Alaskan travel is a must!

Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
AND
Any combination of education, certification, and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies inCompletion of a post-secondary education program in nursing, public health, healthcare services, healthcare administration, or a closely related field;
AND
Progressively responsible professional nursing experience that includes responsibility in health care, public health, health care delivery systems, nursing administration, consultative nursing, and/or teaching capacity that is relevant to the position's area of nursing specialty.
Special Note
Candidates not currently licensed by the State of Alaska, who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska and requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities, may apply for vacancies in this job class.
