      Position Summary

      We are looking for an Occupational Health & Wellness Specialist based at our Sterling Rd factory reporting into the Senior HR Manager. This role will be responsible implementing and administering a comprehensive Health & Wellness Strategy for the Sterling Road factory.

      A day in the life of an Occupational Health & Wellness Specialist
      As an Occupational Health & Wellness Specialist, your main responsibility will be to meet key health and wellness objectives, which includes implementing the Market Health Strategy. You will be tasked with developing an occupational health and wellness program that encompasses various components such as ergonomics, audiometric testing, respiratory fit testing, Health Fairs, Health Education, coordinating flu and other immunization services, and providing support to the Safety, Health & Environment team.

      You will also:
      • Support case management of Short-Term, Long-Term disability, and WSIB claims.
      • Demonstrate expertise in Occupational Health and Safety, Wellness programs, Early and Safe Return to Work program, and Attendance management program.
      • Possess a good working knowledge of relevant legislation, such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Ontario Human Rights code, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, and Canada Labour Code.
      • Lead and coordinate the modified work and rehabilitation programs.
      • Investigate, provide recommendations for resolution, develops, and implements health and safety initiatives, including ergonomics assessment and employee training, audiometric testing, and respiratory fit testing.
      • Participate in required Job Evaluations and support physical demands assessments.
      • Assist in administering First aid and investigating work-related incidents.

      What will make you successful?

      • Post-secondary education in a Health & Wellness related field, preferably in occupational health & safety.
      • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
      • Training and experience in Occupational Health, preferably in a factory and unionized setting.
      • Working knowledge of pertinent legislation (i.e., OHSA, WSIA, Human Rights, AODA, Canada Labour Code).
      • Highly organized, with good interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, and strong leadership.
      • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work under pressure.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other required programs.
      • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and in a team-oriented environment.
      • Strong time management skills required.
      • Adaptability to change.
