      Eastman is currently seeking a Full-Time Occupational Health Nurse

      Responsibilities

      JOB SUMMARY: Assess and identify Occupational and Non-Occupational illness and injuries and triage care. To assist with the rehabilitation of injured and ill employees with medical impairment and enable them to return to work in a healthy and safe manner.

      The following essential elements are general duties that represent the broad spectrum of job assignments. The level of responsibility and job duties within the job assignment are commensurate with established company-wide requirements.

      • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with patient, family, management and the medical community.
      • Ability to assess and identify Occupational and Non-Occupational Injuries and Illnesses and triage care. Perform and/or assist with surveillance exams, ie respirator exams
      • Develop plan of care, provide care and treatments per Nursing Protocol and Guidelines

      The following essential elements are more specific to this particular job assignment but is not all inclusive:

      • Must work independently within the scope of Occupational Health Nursing
      • Perform physical assessment and screening test (Ex. Urine dip stick, glucose testing, EKG, vision and hearing tympanogram screening, urine drug screening and breath alcohol testing, etc.)
      • Refer to Physician and if indicated an outside specialist when assessment reveals need for care beyond scope of OHN
      • Perform evaluation, treatment for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses
      • Facilitate care, testing or medical care (x-ray, prescription medication, physical therapy etc.)
      • Perform venous blood sampling and handling for laboratory testing
      • Document care, referral and follow up in electronic systems and medical chart
      • Discuss findings, referrals, treatments, follow up for any illness or injury with employee consistent with his /her education level of understanding and culture
      • Educate employee in health and wellness issues by using present complaint and teachable moment
      • Obtain diagnosis and functional activity restrictions from outside provider and evaluate appropriateness of restrictions to employee’s level of recovery and functional ability.
      • Coordinate and monitor care from external providers and refer to other providers when indicated (Ex. EAP, Benefits, Health plan case manager, etc.)
      • Communication with external providers, employee and management to provide safe early return to work
      • Provide and or assist with Short Term Disability Case Management and Return to work clearances
      • Rotation through short term disability case management
      • Development and or participation in staff development programs in addition to employee wellness programs
      • RN in good standing with either an Associate/Bachelors in Nursing

      Qualifications

      Educational requirements: Registered Nurse with an Associates in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing

      The requirements that an individual must possess to perform the essential elements of the job:

      1. Job skills, educational background, training requirements or training required:

      • Advanced Nursing Skills- 3 years nursing experience
      • Capable of obtaining Certification in Occupational Health Nursing
      • Drug/Alcohol Testing as well as Certification for DOT Drug/Alcohol testing
      • Basic Life Support as well as Advanced Life Support

      2. Physical Requirements

      • Be able to move effectively around the clinic and WREMP area
      • Be able to communicate verbally and in writing
      • Must be able to travel domestically via airlines and or automobile
      • Minimal travel may be required

      3. Mental Requirements

      • Ability to complete complex problem solving
      • Independent judgment
      • Must be able to multi-task when performing job functions
      • Effective social relationships
      • Capable of continual learning
      • Must be able to work independently and/or alone


      4. Safety Requirements

      • Should work Safely at all times including Universal precautions

      5. Must be able to work different schedules as business needs occur. Current planned schedule is Monday through Friday days.
