      Department Description

      The High Point University Office of Communications is a team of creative professionals who are passionate about sharing the High Point University experience with the world. We serve as the primary point of contact for all High Point University communications efforts, both internal and external. We support departments on campus with web design, social media, media relations, photography and video production, and branding.

      Job Description

      The Student Graphic Design Specialist is a creative and talented individual responsible for conceptualizing and producing high-quality visual assets that align with the university’s brand identity. The Student Graphic Design Specialist collaborates closely with the Brand Manager to ensure the university’s visual communication materials are visually compelling, engaging, and consistent.

      Job Location/ Hours Required

      • The candidate will perform all job duties on the campus of High Point University
      • Tasks may be worked on both in office and remote
      • Hours may vary depending on the job requirements and special events; however, the maximum number of hours a student employee may work per week is 20 hours.

      Responsibilities :

      • Develop and design a wide range of visual materials, including but not limited to digital graphics and displays, banners/billboards, posters, printed materials, and advertisements.
      • Maintain a high standard of creativity, originality, and artistic expression in all designs while adhering to High Point University’s brand standards.
      • Work closely with branding team to understand project requirements, target audience, and objectives for each design assignment.
      • Participate in brainstorming sessions and offer creative input
      • Ensure all design work reflects and reinforces the university’s brand identity, values, and messaging consistently.

      Required Qualifications:

      • Must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA
      • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field
      • Proven experience in graphic design- a portfolio showcasing a diverse range of design work will be required
      • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)

      Desired Skills:

      • A strong understanding of typography, color theory, and layout design principles
      • Highly organized, detail oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects at once
      • Ability to take constructive criticism with openness and a growth mindset
      • Ability to recognize problems and offer solutions
