      Job Description

      The Officer, Training Design and Development provides training and development services related to corporate initiatives, business processes and procedures with the goal of increasing overall employee knowledge, performance levels and professional learning standards within Canada Post.

      Job Responsibilities

      Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Officer, Training Design and Development.

      1. Conducts training needs analysis for new and existing training programs by assessing knowledge and skills gaps, financial budgets and resources required to support initiatives identified by internal clients/stakeholders. In collaboration with stakeholders and unions, determines appropriate course content to meet these needs, including collective agreement and legislative requirements.


      2. Designs, develops, or acquires training content to meet results of needs analysis. Ensures that sound instructional design and adult learning concepts are in place through Quality Assurance reviews.


      3. Confirms design and performance effectiveness of content through pilot training sessions or iterative review/testing of digital content prior to release to employees. Leads the translation of content to meet the Corporation’s Official Languages policy.


      4. Communicates and collaborates with regional Learning and Development, Change Management, and/or stakeholders/clients to deploy training programs. Prepares trainers, SMEs (subject matter experts), team leads, and peer mentors to deliver instructor-led training through train-the-trainer sessions.


      5. Works closely with the Learning Management System team to ensure assignment of programs to target audience and subsequent reporting functionality is in place.

      6. Leads training program evaluation activities, analyses evaluation data and communicates to clients/stakeholders on the achievement of training objectives. Makes recommendations to modify content when indicated through evaluation data.


      7. Collects data and reports on all project status information, including training activities, budgets, evaluation activities and annual training plans. Creates and manages purchase orders in SAP as required.


      8. Reviews and provides training impact and risk assessment for business cases and Requests for Proposal (RFP).


      9. Maintains relationships with professional sources/contacts within and outside the Corporation to keep current on emerging trends and industry standards in training and development.

      Qualifications

      Education


      • A University or college degree/diploma in a related field.

      Experience


      • 1-3 years of related work experience is required.

      Other Candidate Requirements

      Knowledge of:

      • SuccessFactors Learning Management System (Learning Zone)
      • Microsoft Office programs, specifically Microsoft Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint
      • Cisco Webex, Webex Training and Microsoft Teams
      • Adult learning and development practices, including ADDIE (fundamental training and development process)
      • eLearning, instructor led and blended development methodologies, analysis, delivery, evaluation, leading training events and projects.

      Abilities:

      • Ability to produce and facilitate virtual training sessions
      • Ability to adapt and apply innovative learning methods
      • Proficient computer skills and ability to adapt easily to new tech and authoring tools
      • Ability to proactively respond to special requests and to the evolving requirements from our clients and stakeholders
      • Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills
      • Ability to work in a high paced environment
      • Can work under pressure and maintain productivity during peak periods
