      Job summary

      Kingswood Medical Centre are looking to welcome an operations manager for our busy GP surgery in Basildon. This is a full-time, permanent position for between 35-37.5 hours per week, days can be flexible.

      This role is an ideal first step into management for an experienced primary care administrator, or a great sidestep for an existing assistant/deputy practice manager, who is looking for progression and a supportive, well-resourced environment where staff wellbeing is prioritised and achievement is recognised.

      Main duties of the job

      • Supervise the administration team.
      • Manage and coordinate all aspects of practice functionality, motivating and managing staff, and optimising efficiency.
      • Manage the complaint process.
      • Develop the appraisal process.
      • Manage the contracts for services.
      • Review policies and procedures.
      • Assist with marketing the practice appropriately.
      • Ensuring the practice achieves its long-term strategic objectives in a safe and effective working environment.
      • Manage the recruitment and retention of staff.
      • Oversee IT issues.
      • Act as the primary point of contact for outside agencies.

      About us

      We are a GMS non-dispensing practice and look after approximately 10,500 patients with a growing list size and lucky to operate from modern purpose build premises. We are part of Mid and South Essex ICB, and West Basildon Primary Care Network (PCN). The practice is committed to delivering high quality patient care which requires us to have a supportive and cohesive team. We are incredibly proud of how we provide care for our patients. We are rated as CQC Good and are a high QOF achieving practice.

      Our team consists of 2 GP Partners supported by 5 salaried GPs. In addition to our doctors, we have other clinicians working for the practice: ANPs, practice nurses, HCAs, and also a variety of support staff from our PCN consisting of Pharmacists, MH practitioners and home visiting service.

      The clinical staff are supported by our admin team including receptionists, secretaries, workflow and prescriptions clerk. We are a SystmOne practice and hold regular clinical and practice staff meetings.
