- Executing labor tasks, operating, and controlling equipment according to Standard Operating Procedures, prioritizing safety and efficient achievement of production targets.
- Immediately communicating all safety concerns, incidents, and process deficiencies to supervisors for swift resolution.
- Offering valuable feedback to supervisors concerning equipment performance, aiding in optimization.
- Driving continuous improvement by actively contributing to and implementing solutions that resolve identified issues in the work area.
- Demonstrating effective teamwork and individual efficiency, maintaining respectful communication with all team members and stakeholders
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of a Class 7 Provincial Driver’s License (“N”)
- A minimum of 1-year prior work experience in an industrial and/or manufacturing and/or construction setting
- Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts (rosters include both days, nights, weekends, etc.) and adapt to changing schedules
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all team members

About the role
Finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.
We are looking for multiple Operators to join the BC Works team in temporary positions for upcoming needs in Q1 2024. Operators perform a variety of duties across the site, from overseeing control room systems and processes, to executing physical labor tasks, and operating machinery which are essential to production and operations. As an Operator, your dedication to safety and efficiency, adaptability to shifting priorities, and adeptness in collaborating with others are essential to your success in the role.
This role is a great opportunity for enthusiastic and safety-oriented individuals to advance their careers in a large-scale industrial setting. All Operators begin as "temporary" employees, who are scheduled based on operational needs. This serves as the initial phase toward securing permanent employment as an Operator at Rio Tinto, a process typically taking approximately two years, which is an internal seniority-based process. Those holding a Red Seal trade qualification(s) might also have prospects for temporary assignments in temporary trades positions across the site as they are required.
