Job Summary:

This position understands and performs all job classifications within the Packaging Department, as needed, as follows: operates the scale and carton erector, does production recording, lift driver, etc. Follows established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), BDG policies and procedures and safety procedures while performing all job duties.

Job Description:

As the Scale Operator, monitors scale computer fill weight program and makes adjustments to stay within tolerance levels. Coordinates flow of product from packaging bins to the scale by identifying correct count per ounce/item code selection, while monitoring product packaging requirements. Requires critical comprehension of customer requirements and systems used to maintain product quality and production standards. Responsible for set up, operational adjustments and for printer access ensuring item code and descriptions are correct for the product being packaged. Monitoring of packaging equipment to ensure that quantity and production standards are fulfilled. Monitors fill weight program and makes adjustments to stay within tolerance levels. Required to collect foreign material and record findings on HACCP cards and the metal detection log sheet. Required to understand Blue Diamond line certification, HACCP procedures and auditing to perform job duties.
As the Production Recorder, enters all production and/or by-product items produced during assigned shift into the corporate inventory system using established bar code procedures, labeling all items inventoried, and entering machine hours.
As the Case Former Operator, operates the carton erector machine, which includes pre-operational checks and monitoring of equipment to ensure proper operation. Coordinates with Scale Operator to ensure accuracy in production/packaging requirements. Maintaining case erector and surrounding area by proper disposal of discarded fiber, sweeping and emptying garbage barrels as required in the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned by Sr. Manager/Manager/ Supervisor MPL.
