      PACS Administrator, Radiology Tech, Full-Time, Days

Pascack Valley Medical Center has been awarded the Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission in the area of Orthopedics (hip and knee), Sepsis and for Stroke. In addition, the medical center is a designated Stroke Center. Pascack Valley Medical Center is committed to offering excellent care to the local community through various hospital services including a Women’s Center, Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center, Imaging and Diagnostics, Sleep Center, a Wound Care Center and a Center for Joint Replacement. In 2016, Pascack Valley Medical Center opened a brand new Emergency Department featuring over 22,000 square feet with all private exam rooms, fast track rooms for more efficient care and state-of-the-art equipment and technology.


      Responsibilities

      Essential Functions

      • Works closely with the Ardent Senior Analyst, Radiology leadership team and technologists to ensure timely and complete capture of DICOM digital image data into the PACS system as well as network transmission, RIS validation, and exceptions handling.
      • Works closely with the Director of Imaging Services, in the development of operating standards, policies, and procedures involving RIS/PACS and/ or release of images to customers.
      • Responsible for day-to-day operation of PACS equipment including image workflow, archiving, auto-routing, and pre-fetching and other related activities.
      • Reviews feedback from customers, compiles and analyzes support data, and recommends procedural and educational changes regarding the operation and use of the RIS/ PACS systems as appropriate.
      • Oversees activities of vendors in all phases of installation and implementation of new systems or upgrades to existing systems. Works closely with the Director of Imaging Services on project timelines and provides timely feedback on changes to the timeline of any project related to RIS/PACS.
      • Acts as liaison between Radiology and other departments related to medical imaging initiatives and procedures and assisting with existing or new medical imaging endeavors
      • Works closely with the Director of Imaging Services to ensure proper implementation of proper Downtime procedures. Works quickly to resolve downtime issue and communicates effectively during the downtime period to provide follow up to customers and alleviate concerns.
      • Ensures all department, hospital, and Joint Commission guidelines are met for operation with regard to RIS/PACS.
      • Investigates, identifies, and prepares proposals to solve specific operational problems dealing with RIS/PACS, working closely with the Radiology department managers, involving the next level of administration as appropriate.
      • Works closely with radiology's quality management personnel to identify and design future needs and efficient workflow processes, which include further integration into operations.
      • Regularly offers assistance and guidance to medical staff
      • Communicates issues with service and/ or delays offering as much information as is known and at the time of communication and follow up in a timely manner.
      • Demonstrates knowledge of and practices Department safety procedures, including safe handling of equipment and hazardous substances.
      • Other duties as assigned.

      Qualifications

      Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

      • Associates degree or equivalent work experience in related healthcare discipline or information systems discipline preferred; Bachelor’s degree preferred
      • A minimum of 3+ years as a RIS /PACS administrator or specialist preferred
      • Excellent written/oral communication skills required, must be able to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
      • Proficient in office software Microsoft Office to include Word, Visio and Excel
      • Knowledge of the HL7/ DICOM standards in theory and practice
      • Knowledge of current server operating systems, virtual environments and networks as well as the safe handling of client hardware/software
      • Understanding of diagnostic images and workflows with HIS and RIS
      • Working knowledge of VPN and NAT technologies
      • Knowledge in troubleshooting computer hardware
      • Training of medical staff
