Complete research projects on a topic in the above fields following discussion with the team.

Potential projects could be in paediatric epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, cerebrovascular/paediatric stroke or movement disorders and would be decided following discussion with you, depending upon your specific area of interest.

The post is valid for one year in the first instance, but may be extended depending on progress of the research study and review of your work towards the end of the first year.

You will need to discuss the possibility of out of programme experience with the necessary authorities at your Trust / Deanery.

- Able to work well in a team and under pressure, able to make appropriate decisions and escalate to senior colleagues where appropriate
- Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills with other team members, patients and families.
- Ability to communicate with children with complex neurological conditions including learning disabilities
- Evidence of teaching junior colleagues and allied health professionals
- Demonstrates ability for clear, logical thought to provide initial management for patients
- Demonstrates knowledge on the topic chosen for research
- Awareness of own limitations and when to ask for help
- Ability to manage time, work independently, prioritise workload and follow advice and recommendations
- Ability to adapt to changes
- Takes responsibility for own actions and demonstrates respect for all, awareness of clinical governance and GMC guidelines on probity and fulfils them

Job summary
Fixed Term: 12 months | Full-time: 40 hrs per week
This is an exciting opportunity for a trainee (ST4-level and above) who is looking to take time out of training to develop their skills in Paediatric Neurology, and gain research experience in neurology.
The post is based at the Ryegate Children's Centre / Sheffield Children's Hospital, and research will be conducted both at this sites.
This post is designed for a trainee of ST4 and above level, who is considering a career in paediatric neurology, neurorehabilitation or epilepsy and is interested in gaining research experience, presentations and publications.
