Summary Statement: Applies advanced technical skills and knowledge in original equipment manufacturing of final paint application on original equipment manufactured parts, components and complete subsystems for operational aircraft applications. Performs any of the detailed work operations required to be completed in this area of specialization.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities: Performs paint application to original equipment manufactured (OEM) structural parts, components and subsystems for aircraft applications using products and processes that are varied and moderately complex to complex in scope to apply primer, topcoat paint, and any spray-applied coatings to aircraft parts consistent with government, customer and company standards. The level of work requires experience and sound judgment. Reads and interprets specifications and documents to define the scope of work on work orders. Cleans grease and dirt from product. Removes rust from metal with acid, wire brush, or steel wool. Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated. Fills cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface. Computes mix ratios in order to mix paint materials. Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color. Pours coating liquid into spray container and connects gun to air hose. Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray. Selects the appropriate personal protective equipment for the operation to be performed. When using a respirator ensures the respirator is working properly and is properly worn. Applies spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish using protective or decorative material such as paint, enamel, glaze, gel-coat, or lacquer. Coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer with brush. Heats and sprays wax onto products after they are tested. Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent. Ensures compliance with environment regulations and maintains records in accordance with these environment regulations.
Ancillary Functions and Responsibilities: Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications other than the primary assignment.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Formal Education, Training and Work Experience: No formal education required. Four (4) to seven (7) or more years' work experience in aircraft or formal automotive painting. Must be able to use / operate small hand tools and machinery.
Level of Supervision Required: The level of supervision required described here is representative of that which must be met by a Stakeholder to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Works under general supervision applying and adapting standard procedures and solutions to meet work requirements. Priorities are determined by management.
Special Skills, Licenses or Job Requirements: Demonstrate competency in applying the following in performing normal job duties. • Must be able to use equipment required in the performance of the job. • Trains other Stakeholders in the proper application and quality of primer and topcoats.
Special Training and Behavioral Competencies: • Safety training as required by OSHA. • Respirator training, certification and fit test. The fit must be to the skin at the respirator seal. • Pulmonary function test is required. • Jaeger color perception eye test. • Comply with The NORDAM Group Leadership Competencies for Stakeholders. • Ability and willingness to assist and transfer technical knowledge to less experienced Stakeholders.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week, if required. Additionally, those who work at NORDAM Repair Division must be able to ascend and descend stairs.

While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
