- Valid G or G2 Driver’s licence and a minimum of 2 years driving experience. Successful candidates will be required to provide driver’s abstract that meets the requirement’s outlined in the City’s Fleet Policy prior to start date.
- Ability to work from April to August. Some positions will continue until end of October.
- Ability to work with various small tools and equipment
- Ability to perform physical work and in all types of weather
- Ability to work with or without supervision
- Strong focus on quality customer service
- Demonstration of community mindedness through volunteering, community outreach and other initiatives is an asset
- Experience in landscaping, construction, farming or other related experience is an asset
- Turf Maintenance: Working on the Turf team means you are helping keep our parks clean and maintained for picnics, reading a book, or playing fetch. This position is primarily responsible for turf maintenance and related services within City parks, facilities, and road allowances.
- Sports Fields Maintenance: Working on the Sports team means you are keeping our parks clean and maintained for leagues, tournaments, and friendly competition. This position is primarily responsible for sports field maintenance, waste collection, and related services within City parks.
- Horticulture: Working on the horticulture team means you are helping to make Guelph’s gardens and outdoor spaces beautiful. This role performs horticultural activities, including bed preparation, planting, transplanting, weeding, cultivating, pruning, fertilizing, weed vegetative control, and maintenance of trees, shrubs, annuals and perennials on City properties.
- Park Infrastructure: Working on the infrastructure teams means supporting clean, well maintained parks structures across the city for our community to enjoy. This position includes cleaning and minor maintenance of our parks building and structures, providing park patrol, and safe operation of our city’s amusement rides and splash pads.
- Urban Forestry: Working on the Urban Forestry teams mean you are helping with the care and culture of young trees across the city.
- Trails Maintenance: Working on the Trails team means you are helping keep our parks clean and maintained for walking, cycling, exploring. This position is primarily responsible for trails maintenance, waste collection, and related services within City parks, facilities, and road allowances.
- Natural Area Stewardship: Working on the NAS team means you are improving the ecology of Guelph’s parks and natural areas. This position is primarily responsible for duties related, but not limited to planting and maintaining young trees, managing invasive species, and reducing human wildlife conflicts.
