Minimum 7 years of progressive HR experience.

3–5 years HR Generalist experience, including at least 2 years in an HR Director-level role.

Proven experience in labor union environments, including collective bargaining, grievance resolution, and contract interpretation.

Certifications: PHR or PHR-CA certification required (or willingness to obtain within six months).

Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and best practices, with an emphasis on labor law and union-specific regulations.

Proficiency in HRIS systems, payroll software, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace.

Experience with project management tools like Monday.com or Basecamp is a plus.

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with clients and assess organizational needs.

Strong administrative skills: highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Provide strategic guidance and support for clients in unionized environments, including grievance resolution, contract administration, and collective bargaining.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws and union-specific regulations.

Support clients with recruitment, onboarding, and performance management processes.

Develop and update job descriptions, employee handbooks, and HR policies tailored to client needs.

Conduct training for employees, supervisors, and managers, including union-specific topics.

Serve as the point of contact for employee relations issues, ensuring proactive resolution and maintaining positive workplace environments.

Administer benefits programs, including open enrollment, claims resolution, and employee communication.

Provide payroll support such as time-off tracking and timesheet review.

Manage HR projects, including technology implementations, process improvements, and employee engagement initiatives.

Position: Part-Time Human Resources Business Partner
We presently have a core HR Division and are now building the team up due to an increased demand for services. Reporting to the Senior Director of HR, the HR Business Partner is a part-time employee with a Generalist’s focus and significant expertise in labor relations. This individual is accountable for providing HR services to our nonprofit and social enterprise clients in areas such as recruitment, onboarding, staff training, performance management, employee relations, payroll support, benefits administration, labor union guidance, and other high-touch human resource service areas and projects.
Compensation:
The hourly range for this part-time, non-exempt position is $30.00–$40.00 per hour DOE. Hours will vary based on customer needs but can be as much as 20–27 hours per week. Candidates are encouraged to have other means to supplement their income. This position is not eligible for benefits except for those mandated by local, state, and federal laws.
This role will be hybrid remote and in-person, with some work completed onsite at our clients’ office, some at our office, and remote.
