- Evaluates applications for admission according to the standards set by the Admissions Office. Exercises independent judgment and makes professional recommendations regarding admission decisions. Analyzes applicants' high school curriculum, academic performance record, extracurricular involvements, and potential to contribute to the Macalester community.
- Synthesizes, writes and edits a short narrative summary of the application.
- Bachelor's degree required
- Direct experience as a student or staff member at a highly selective liberal arts college preferred.
- Consistent application of critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work respectfully with sensitive and confidential information.
- An appreciaton for the value of a liberal arts education.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion and diversity.
Overview
Macalester college is seeking to hire individuals for five-month, seasonal positions to work remotely as Admissions Readers. This role evaluates applications from domestic applicants for admission to Macalester College.
Scheduling:
Candidates are expected to work at least 10 hours per week from mid-October until February 1st. Application readers work full-day shifts between 9:00am CST – 5:00pm CST up to four days per week. All candidates hired for this position are guaranteed six weeks of work in 2023 and five weeks of work in 2024.
This position is entirely remote. There are no in-person working hours or assignments. Candidates are expected to work from within the United States and be able to provide their own computer with reliable internet access and audio/video capabilities.

The pay rate for this position is $20/hour.
This position is not benefits eligible.
Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check is a condition of employment.
