What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Perform self-pay collections, including complex reviews of billing and collections activities
- Meet with patients and families to discuss payment options and assist with financial applications
- Ensure timely, complete, and accurate billing of UB04 and HCFA 1500 claims and self-pay accounts
- Provide information regarding patient accounts in response to inquiries while safeguarding confidentiality
- Analyze patient accounts and recommend write-offs for non-collectable accounts when applicable

What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in medical billing, collections, or customer service, preferably in an acute care setting
- Strong knowledge of medical insurance practices, policies, and regulations
- Proficiency in using computer applications and systems, including Excel and Word
- Ability to effectively communicate and present information to customers and team members

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Familiarity with HMO, PPO, and Indemnity third-party billing guidelines
- Knowledge of medical terminology and coding related to hospital or professional billing
- Experience in evaluating bills/claims for timely payment collection
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify trends and make sound decisions
