What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Perform self-pay collections, including the review of billing and collections activities
- Resolve and research coverage issues to ensure timely and accurate payment
- Meet with patients and families to discuss payment options and complete financial applications for available programs
- Analyze patient accounts and recommend bad debt or charity write-offs when applicable
- Provide information regarding patient accounts while safeguarding confidential information

What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in medical billing, collections, or customer service, preferably in an acute care setting
- Strong knowledge of medical insurance practices and regulations
- Proficiency in using computer applications including Excel, Word, and email
- Ability to read and interpret medical billing documents and governmental regulations

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with UB04 and HCFA 1500 claims
- Familiarity with third-party billing guidelines and processes
- Strong analytical skills to identify trends related to assigned payers
- Experience in providing assistance or training to team members
- Knowledge of medical terminology and coding related to hospital billing
