Description:
The Patient Care Manager is responsible for supporting the mission of the Stollery Children’s Hospital for providing exemplary pediatric patient care, education and facilitating research in an atmosphere that preserves the dignity and rights of patients and their families. This is accomplished through the provision of excellent patient care, the delivery of patient and staff education, and the introduction of research initiatives while demonstrating the core values of the organization. The Patient Care Manager has accountability for the Ambulatory Medicine Portfolio, which is inclusive but not limited to multiple medical subspecialty clinics, a Medical Outpatient Unit (MOU), and a clinical investigation unit. The incumbent will support all members of the team across all Stollery programs as required. This position reports to the Executive Director of inpatient and ambulatory care at Stollery Children’s Hospital. The incumbent is responsible for participating in strategic planning; identifying budget requirements (human, material and capital resources) to safely meet patient needs; managing of expenditures and variance analysis; establishing and maintaining standards of practice; hiring and evaluating performance of professional and ancillary staff; creating and sustaining healthy work environments including Workplace Health and Safety issues; maintaining collaborative working relationships and facilitating the implementation of changes to structure and processes in order to accomplish improved outcomes in patient satisfaction, quality of care and cost containment.
Bachelor in a health-related field is required. Minimum five years of pediatric acute care hospital experience required. Well balanced and developed clinical and Operational management skills, with proven performance. Minimum of two years in a management or leadership role in the health care sector. Current registration with appropriate licensing body is required. Computer and software agility skills required.

Value the Health and Safety of both Patients and Staff. A predominant transformative leadership style is essential to this leadership role. Evidence of System's Transformation capabilities is required. Strong comprehension and creative strategic application of operational concepts related to capacity analysis, utilization, and patient flow is required.
Preferred Qualifications:A complementary Masters degree is preferred (must make a convincing case of skill transfer).
