- Responsible for facilitating smooth flow of patients through imaging areas by assisting imaging technologists in the performance of MRI procedures.
- Communicates with inpatient units to coordinate and prepare patients for their MRI.
- Provides for patient comfort measures through social interactions.
- Transports patients, equipment (including Radiology imaging equipment), specimens and supplies.
- Shares responsibility for preparation, proper use and care of equipment and supplies and for neatness and cleanliness of assigned area.
- Reports pertinent patient information and incidents to imaging technologist and care team, including obtaining medical assistance for changes in the patient condition.
- Demonstrate accountability for patient satisfaction.
- Cleans clinical areas and exam rooms dependent on the area of assignment.
- Stock and supply assigned areas.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Adheres to departmental established policies and procedures including but not limiting to double identification and hand hygiene.
- Collaborates with imaging technologists and other staff across Radiology to ensure optimal patient experience and efficient workflow.
- Performs special duties as assigned.

The University of Iowa Health Care department of Radiology is seeking a Patient Care Technician to, under direct supervision, assists the members of the MRI Radiology Department in provision of efficient and safe patient care. Assists imaging technologists with MRI imaging studies in Radiology. Assists with the performance of a wide variety imaging procedures by participating in patient prep, patient transport and room turnover.
Position Responsibilities:
Percent of Time: 100%
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 0700-1530.
Location: MRI
Rotations: No holiday rotation or weekends, no "on-call" duties.
Pay Grade: 5
