      The PBLA Lead Teacher will support LINC Home Study Ontario instructors in the implementation of PBLA and report to the Coordinator. LINC Home Study instructors deliver one-on-one English language training at a distance, work remotely and establish their own working hours including evenings and weekends. Occasional evening and weekend hours will be required in this role. The position is fully remote and the successful candidate must reside in Ontario. This is a temporary position covering a maternity leave.

      DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Collaborate with LINC Home Study office staff to support a positive experience for LINC Home Study instructors
      • Provide PBLA orientation, and support to new instructors
      • Facilitate informal learning groups using LINC Home Study instructors as resources for one other
      • Guide instructors and provide feedback and/or suggestions as a peer and colleague
      • Meet one-on-one with instructors to discuss PBLA-related topics (includes CLB, Task-Based Instruction and Task-Based Assessment)
      • Develop and deliver workshops and demos to colleagues related to PBLA implementation
      • Contribute to the development of new tools and resources to support PBLA implementation in the LINC Home Study program
      • Contribute PBLA related updates to staff meetings and other internal communication channels
      • Participate in Professional Learning Sessions, PBLA Lead Teacher groups and forums as necessary
      • Maintain PBLA related training records and submit requests for PBLA training to CCLB
      • Advise program management on needed supports such as PD or resources and lead development and implementation of supports
      • Regular meetings and communication with the supervisor to share progress of implementation and to discuss any needs or concerns
      • Complete an annual self assessment using the PBLA Practice Review framework and complete an action plan
      • Instruct up to 3 LINC Home Study Ontario learners on a continuous intake basis (provide weekly 1 on 1 instruction; record details of weekly classes in the LMS; conduct needs assessments and develop learning plans; assign homework and provide feedback; develop/adapt and deliver CLB based learning activities to augment the core curriculum; conduct ongoing assessments of progress towards learning outcomes; complete student progress reports; create and maintain student portfolios)
      • Assist with the annual instructor PD event, including participation on the PD committee
      • Attend organizational meetings and professional development activities as required
      • Adhere to organizational policies and guidelines
      • Occasionally work evenings and weekends

      QUALIFICATIONS

      • TESL Certificate required
      • Completion of Introduction to PBLA via CCLB required
      • Completion of PBLA Lead Teacher training or eligibility for PLAR required
      • Experience using PBLA in the classroom required
      • Experience in teaching a variety of CLB levels
      • Experience in delivering online language training
      • Experience in providing professional support to colleagues (e.g. mentoring, PD workshops, committees, etc.)
      • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Google Suite, and online conferencing tools (MS Teams, Zoom).
      • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
      • Demonstrated ability to create professional looking presentations and resources.
      • Ability to manage time effectively and to work independently
      • LINC experience an asset
      • Avenue.ca training an asset
      • A criminal record check is required by the successful candidate at their own expense
