      Job summary

      We are looking for a Senior (Band 8) Clinical Pharmacist to join a friendly, dynamic and progressive PCN in the North Barnet working across 7 general practices.

      This is a patient facing role in managing long-term conditions; working directly with patients to assess and treat conditions, as well as promote self-care. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to develop and run processes for repeat prescription reauthorisation, management of medicines on transfer of care and systems for safer prescribing.

      As a Senior Clinical Pharmacist, you will be responsible for providing leadership on quality improvement and clinical audit, as well as managing some aspects of the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) and the Directed Enhanced Service (DES) Contract .

      Main duties of the job

      As the Senior Clinical Pharmacist, you will have a post-graduate diploma or higher degree in clinical pharmacy, CPPE and will be an independent prescriber.

      You will need to be self-motivated and able to work on your own, whilst also integrating into a number of well-established General Practices. You will have excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills together with a good working knowledge of primary care and the challenges facing medicines management in the new NHS.

      Experience in General Practice is essential as well as the applicant being clinically up-to-date.

      Barnet Federated GPs is a rapidly growing GP Federation whose shareholders include all 46 practices in Barnet, covering over 425,000 patients. Within this, we are divided into 7 Primary Care Networks (PCNs), each with its own leadership structure. Barnet Federated GPs is made up of a small, office-based team along with some clinical and non-clinical staff whom we employ on behalf of the PCNs. We currently have an enthusiastic and very supportive Board of Directors leading Barnet Federated GPs who are focused on supporting and sustaining Primary Care in the London Borough of Barnet.

      Qualifications

      Essential

      • Mandatory registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council. Completion of an undergraduate degree in pharmacy and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
      • Independent prescriber or currently working towards qualification Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience.
      • CPPE certificate for senior pharmacists

      Desirable

      • Clinical diploma Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society

      • Experience of working in primary care
      • In depth therapeutic and clinical knowledge and understanding of the principles of evidence- based healthcare
      • An appreciation of the nature of GPs and general practices.
      • An appreciation of the nature of primary care prescribing, concepts of rational prescribing and strategies for improving prescribing.
      • Understanding of the wider determinants of health, including social, economic and environmental factors and their impact on communities.
      • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills.
