      The successful candidate will coordinate physical performance support across the Professional Development Phase (PDP) and to deliver, manage, and develop physical performance support to the U21s squad of the PDP phase of the academy.

      Your Impact

      1. The PDP Physical Performance lead will be responsible for coordinating the physical performance support of academy footballers within PDP phase (U18s and U21s) in accordance with the physical philosophy of the Academy. This will include transition of players from U16s into PDP and players within the PDP to the First Team environment.
      2. Plan, deliver and evaluate on- and off-pitch physical development sessions for the U21s squad, designed to enhance the athletic capabilities of players.
      3. Assist with the monitoring and assessment of player physical development. This will include the management of data collection, analysis, reporting and providing effective feedback to coaches, key stakeholders, and players.
      4. Work with an interdisciplinary approach, maintaining strong professional relationships with performance, medical, coaching, and operational staff (academy and first team).
      5. Assist with the the practical implementation of appropriate nutrition and hydration strategies for players within U21s in collaboration with the academy nutritionist.
      6. Uphold continual professional development, leading and contributing to age and sport-specific research.
      7. Contribute to the development of scientifically underpinned protocols for all aspects of physical performance support.
      8. Work closely with coaches to ensure the physical development requirements are optimised through the football curriculum.


      What we are looking for

      Essential

      • Substantial experience of delivery of sports science/S&C support within elite academy team sports environment
      • (Football desirable)
      • Prior responsibility of physical development and coaching experience with youth athletes.
      • Post-graduate qualification in Sports Science / Strength & Conditioning / Equivalent
      • Industry recognised strength & conditioning certification (UKSCA, NSCA, or ASCA)
      • British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) Accredited (or currently engaged in the accreditation process
      • Current FA Safeguarding Certification
      • Current Emergency First Aid Certification

      Desirable

      • Significant experience of employing underpinning research to monitor/track, evaluate and develop athletic performance – individual athlete within a team setting.
