- Assist students with academic planning, registration, course requirements, and degree completion planning
- Serve alongside a first-year seminar instructor to mentor and provide support for students within that course
- Hold meetings with students on a weekly basis regarding academic progress
- Facilitate interaction with new students and their transition to Dominican University
- Support Dominican's orientation and first-year programming
- Administratively support all units within the Student Success and Engagement suite (Crown 100)
- Act as a role model for all students and adhere is Dominican's Student Code of Conduct
- Refer students to appropriate on and off campus resources
- Attend monthly training/meeting sessions throughout the fall and spring semesters
- Assist walk-in students with academic planning, registration, course requirements, and degree completion planning
- Manage advising zoom room for any virtual assistance Facilitate interaction with new students and their transition to Dominican University Administratively support all units within the Student Success and Engagement suite (Crown 100)
- Manage SSE staff calendars Answer phone calls and forwarding calls to necessary departments Answer/forward incoming advising emails to the appropriate extent
- Act as a role model for all students and adhere is Dominican's Student Code of Conduct Refer students to appropriate on and off campus resources
- Attend monthly training/meeting sessions throughout the fall and spring semesters
- Peer LEADers will NOT take the place of faculty and professional advisors.
- Applicants must be a registered student at Dominican University.
- A minimum overall grade point average of 2.50
- Applicants must also display strong interpersonal communication and leadership skills as well as the potential to develop these skills.
- Proficiency in email etiquette and Office 365 suite
- They must have the ability to work with diverse groups of people.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Passion for helping new students get integrated to the DU community.
- Ability to work well with peers, students, and faculty.
- Demonstrate involvement on campus or in the community.
- Commitment of at least 1 year is required.
- First year Peer LEADers will be compensated by an hourly rate based on the current minimum wage

- *August training will not interfere with other fall trainings, so you will be able to apply for multiple positions. You must attend training in order to be a Peer LEADer.

Peer LEADers have an important role in supporting the mission of the division of Student Success and Engagement utilizing the LEAD Model; Learn, Engage, Advise, and Develop. LEADers will support the offices located within the SSE Suite (Crown 100): Academic Advising, First-Year Experience, and Student Success. Working with the Student Success and Engagement staff, Peer LEADers facilitate and address issues such as working with faculty advisors, securing academic tutoring, developing time management skills, and ensuring a successful first-year transition into the university. Additionally, Peer LEADers assist students with academic planning, registration, and degree planning.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: SPRING
The Peer LEADer program provides holistic support for all students as they navigate their experience at Dominican University. Peer LEADers have an important role in supporting the mission of the division of Student Success and Engagement utilizing the LEAD Model; Learn, Engage, Advise, and Develop. LEADers will support the offices located within the SSE Suite (Crown 100): Advising, First-Year Experience, and Student Success. Working with the Advising staff, Peer LEADers plan and facilitate programs to address issues such as working with faculty advisors, securing academic tutoring, developing time management skills, navigating career resources, securing internships and employment, and ensuring a successful first-year transition into the University. Peer LEADers also work collaboratively with student organizations, offices, and departments to plan and execute social and developmental activities throughout the year.

*Peer LEADers must participate in mandatory trainings that will take place in August.
This is a paid position and each Peer LEADer will work approximately 5-12 hours per week, hours may differentiate in SPRING Semester
