What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Inspire hope and support patients in understanding that addiction is a mental disease that can be overcome
- Provide practical help, mentoring, advocacy, and coordination of services for patients
- Educate patients and families about mental illness and addictive disorders through peer-to-peer programs
- Assist patients in achieving their recovery goals by working with their treatment teams
- Model effective coping techniques and self-help strategies while facilitating individual and group sessions
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Previous experience in addiction recovery
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of the substance abuse population and treatment planning
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks under pressure

- Credentials as a Peer Support Specialist, as per state requirements
- Experience in providing support in stressful situations
- Strong aptitude for science-backed decision-making
- Basic computer and word processing skills
