      This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest and successful Teaching Hospitals in the UK with an international reputation and tradition of innovation.

      As a dedicated Children's theatre suite, we provide 24-hour cover over 7 theatres & 2 PACU suites for a variety of specialties including General surgery, Urology, Hepato-biliary, Robotic surgery, Head & Neck, Ophthalmology, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics and trauma related services. This includes both Elective and Acute theatre lists. We also cover the General Anaesthetic & PACU services for interventional radiology, MRI and Oncology theatres.

      Main duties of the job

      As a team leader you will continue to maintain clinical practice and there may be some requirement for weekend working and night duty if needed. The successful applicant will have line manager responsibilities for the multidisciplinary staff and various services provided within the Paediatric Perioperative team. We require a dynamic and motivated Senior Practitioner with outstanding knowledge, skills and experience in the relevant Surgical Specialties to provide excellent patient care. You will be supported & facilitated by Matron, Deputy Matron Senior Management & the Education Team to lead and contribute to the quality, performance, governance and financial aspects of the role.

      Applicants must be able to demonstrate their commitment to developing the service, show evidence of clinical leadership & multidisciplinary team working with excellent communication skills and be enthusiastic & have a positive attitude to change. This role also involves teaching, assessing & mentoring various junior members within the unit, so a recognised teaching and assessing qualification is essential.       The Team Leader will support the Matron/Theatre Manager in the delivery of theatre objectives and will be responsible and accountable for managing capacity and staffing resources over the 24-hour period.

      The role will be 70% non-clinical management and 30% clinical management.
