      Job summary

      An exciting opportunity has arisen within Acute & Emergency Medicine (AEM). We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual with substantial Personal Assistant experience, who would like the chance to develop and broaden their skills in a fast paced Major Trauma Centre. The role of Personal Assistant is a demanding but exciting role providing secretarial and admin support to a number of Directors and working as part of the Executive Support Team.

      This is a demanding but interesting and diverse role in a friendly team and is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for the Director(s) requiring clear communication and liaison skills. They will need to be able to demonstrate initiative in planning their own workload, have an exceptional eye for detail, the ability to work to a very high standard of accuracy and excellent organisational skills are also essential for this role. An ability to be able to forward plan, analyse and re-prioritise workload is also required.

      An excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is essential, when undertaking a wide range of duties. These include complex diary and email management, organisation of meetings, minute taking, document formatting and other general administrative tasks.

      Main duties of the job

      To support and provide a comprehensive, high quality, administrative and personal assistant service to the Acute and Emergency Medicine Care Group Senior Leadership Team including Operations Director, Nurse Director, Clinical Director and their respective deputies across a range of duties to ensure effective and efficient working.       Essential

      • Educated to GCSE Grade C or above in Maths and English or equivalent qualifications/experience.
      • Medical terminology

      Desirable

      • Audio-typing qualification
      • NVQ level 3 Secretarial or Business Administrative qualification or equivalent level of demonstrable experience

      Experience

      Essential

      • Relevant previous medical secretarial/PA experience or relevant similar experience.
      • Experience of supporting senior leaders including diary management, correspondence and filing systems
      • Proficient in Microsoft packages including Word and Outlook including database and spreadsheet management
      • Taking, producing and circulating agendas, minutes, actions
      • Experience of dealing with patients or members of the public over the telephone
      • Previous experience of working in a team
      • Previous NHS/public sector experience
