Job Description

- Installs and configures software, hardware, and computer peripherals.
- Applies updates to installed software and operating systems.
- Determines the type of software to install on the computer as needed by the user based on the user’s department, location, and job function.
- Establishes user accounts and sets user permissions for various software systems and subsystems.
- Maintains computer systems, peripherals, and relevant equipment as needed to ensure efficient performance.
- Works at the Help Desk in order to assist end users via phone.
- Downloads and installs software updates for feature improvement and security purposes.
- Reviews computer logs to determine if a computer on the network is infected by a computer virus.
- Diagnoses and troubleshoots connectivity issues and technical problems with software, operating systems, and hardware.
- Re-installs/connects hardware to refresh the connection or software to rewrite the Dynamic Link Library files (DLL) files.
- Removes viruses, spyware, or unauthorized software from various computing devices.
- Troubleshoots hardware and software configuration to determine the area of the problem.
- Conducts research to complete tasks, solve problems, or to determine the software/hardware need of users.
- Trains end users on applications, PC, hardware, and software use.
Experience repairing and replacing, computers, and/or computer hardware (e.g., internal components, peripherals).
Experience troubleshooting computer networking issues on a computer using system tools (e.g. command line prompts for ping, ipconfig, tracert, speed tests).
Experience using networking diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot networking issues (e.g., toners, cable tester).
Associate's degree in Computer Repair, Computer Networking, or related field.
Computer Information Systems Certificate (e.g., Networking, Computer Repair, CompTIA A+).
2-3 years of experience as a PC Network Technician.

Work is conducted almost exclusively indoors in an office setting and involves use of standard office equipment, such as computer, phone, copier, etc.
Work involves use of tools and equipment necessary for the repair of personal computers, local networks, or PC peripherals.
Job involves physical exertion required for sustained periods of light physical activity such as walking or standing.
May involve occasional light lifting of items or objects weighing up to 25 lbs.

Personal Computer (PC)/Network Technicians are responsible for providing computer and network-related solutions for end users within their respective organizations. Employees in this position install and maintain computer hardware/software, provide technical support and troubleshooting suggestions for end users, diagnose various technical problems (e.g., connectivity issues, malfunctioning peripherals), provide user-oriented training, and participate in professional development activities (e.g., research, seminars) to stay abreast of current trends and innovations in their field. PC/Network Technicians work almost exclusively in an office setting using standard office equipment (e.g., computer, phone, copier) and have no supervisory responsibilities to subordinate personnel.TYPICAL JOB DUTIES:
