- Master’s degree in economics, preferably with a secondary specialization in the area of finance, statistics, operations, management, or mathematics;
- Proof of Fluency in English (IELTS score of 6.5, or equivalent) or evidence of prior teaching in English;
- Ability to teach undergraduate-level courses in English;
- Solid background in linear programming, advanced econometrics, and data envelopment analysis;
- Proficiency with programming languages and software packages such as Stata, GAMS, Python, MATLAB, etc.;
- Strong potential to publish in AJG category 4 journals;
- A passion for research and ability to work independently.
Lille Economics and Management (LEM, CNRS UMR 9221) and IÉSEG School of Management invite applications for a fully funded Ph.D. position in Economics and Sustainability at its Paris campus.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The main goal of the project is to use state-of-the-art algorithms to assess inclusive performance that targets economic development while emphasizing resource conservation, environmental protection, and social progress. Quantifying the impact of social and environmental repercussions of economic growth will be the key focus of this project. Performance assessment frameworks that account for the economic, environmental, and social development criteria hold significant importance both in theory and practice, because they can serve as a robust reference for managerial decisions.
The selected Ph.D. candidate will be working under the supervision of Prof. Zhiyang Shen and be co-supervised by Prof. Mikayel Vardanyan. The selected candidate will be part of the Department of Economics and Quantitative Methods (click here for more information).

WORKING CONDITIONS
The selected applicant is expected to begin their assignment in October 2024. Gross salary will be competitive with other European research and academic institutions (2250€/month). The Ph.D. student will be based in Paris (on the site of IÉSEG School of Management) and will have to enroll in the Ph.D. program at the University of Lille. The Ph.D. student will be offered the means and support necessary to engage in research projects with strong potential to get published in international, peer-refereed scholarly journals.
