- Ability to view imagery using a stereo 3D monitor and manipulate a 3D cursor to produce measurements and register data to build a terrain surface model.
- Coordinates projects within the photogrammetry section and monitors project timelines to ensure deadlines are met.
- Determines operational, technical and support requirements for photogrammetry and other geospatial hardware and software.
- Digitizes complex planimetric features and Digital Terrain Models, break lines and mass points directly from scanned aerial photographs or point cloud data to create highly technical design level mapping used for transportation design on a digital stereo workstation.
- Identifies and develops possible solutions for recurring quality control problems.
- Installs and evaluates new software and hardware.
- Installs project data and digital imagery for projects.
- Keeps abreast of technological changes in photogrammetry and related computer software and hardware.
- Operates a digital stereo workstation to acquire stereo-triangulation or digital terrain data.
- Coordinates and/or performs the backup of projects; ensures adherence to quality control procedures.
- Provides computer support and advice to the photogrammetry branch.
- Requests data to be archived and finalized for deliverables.
- Reviews and edits all graphic files produced and merges graphic files into project files for engineering design.
- Serves on departmental teams, task forces and committees.
- Trains less tenured photogrammetry specialists.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
- Valid driver’s license at the time of application. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
- ASPRS Certified Photogrammetrist preferred for Specialist III

- A job simulation will administered as part of the interview process. This simulation will test the applicants ability to view the imagery using a 3D monitor as well as manipulate a 3D cursor to place points and collect coordinate values as well as draw a sample of predefined lines for testing the visual acuity of the applicant.

A Photogrammetrist performs image assessment, point selection, mensuration, triangulation, orthorectification, dynamic range adjustments, and processing in order to produce computer aided drafted mapping and image products. They increase the relative and absolute positioning accuracy of imagery from sensors to support mono and stereo exploitation. These analysts assess, evaluate, and extract elevation data from stereo imagery. This candidate will perform advanced technical photogrammetric and LIDAR extraction services to produce design-level mapping and digital terrain models (DTMs) for transportation engineering design projects. The Specialist III can serve as a Lead Worker with additional work responsibilities that would involve training and production or project leading. Work may require contact with governmental and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
