Operate a plant area or unit in a safe, effective and productive manner, while working collaboratively as part of the operating team under supervision of a Lead Plant Operator (the Shift Engineer).
Maintain and troubleshoot all area-specific equipment to optimize performance to meet production targets as per Cenovus guidelines.
Issue work requests, safe work permits, and perform equipment isolations.
Perform process & equipment condition monitoring including sampling, testing & analysis as per area responsibilities. Complete area operations records such as routine readings, volume balances, log sheets, required reports, P&ID updates, car seal audits, etc.
Support operations performed maintenance activities aligned to the site’s operating philosophy. Support on-site maintenance contractors by communicating Cenovus requirements, policies and procedures, while leading by example.
Develop and progress to personal performance to increasing Operator levels, including attaining necessary Power Engineer certification as required. Provide assistance, coaching, on-the-job training and assessments to new employees as required.
Participate in the development, review and revision of Safe Operating Procedures. Follow safe operating and chemical handling procedures and ensure environmental impact is minimized and assets are operated according to design.
Report all safety observations, near misses and incidents. Participate in hazard/risk assessments, safety meetings and incident investigations, as required.
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
High School diploma
Class 5 driver’s license
3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate
Minimum 2 years of experience of Steam Plant processing equipment and all associated processes and systems.
A minimum 2 years of Oil and Gas Plant Operator experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in equipment isolation in preparation for maintenance and safe work permitting and hazard analysis

Cenovus is currently looking for a minimum Class 3 Plant Operator to join their Conventional Operations team at the Rainbow Lake location.
This role is based in Rainbow Lake and is 14 days on 14 days off rotational role. The role requires the successful candidate to live in Rainbow Lake while on shift.
