Police Chief will oversee the department’s day-to-day operations and strategic planning with a focus on fostering a
culture of excellence. This will include
the development, implementation, and oversight of comprehensive projects and programs related to patrol, criminal investigations, traffic functions, community initiatives and outreach, and other related programs. The
Police Chief will assume full executive leadership and management responsibility for all departmental services and activities. The role reports directly to the City Manager's Office and involves daily collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team, City Council, and various boards and commissions to advance the City’s goals. The Chief sets the tone for the department’s culture, develops and implements strategic initiatives, manages budgets, and serves as the corporate liaison for the department.
Police Chief Hiring Range: DOQ
Police Chief Pay Plan: $137,891 - $227,052 annual

Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years of command and supervisory experience in an organized police department is
required.
Formal Education: Work requires specialized knowledge in a professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college, resulting in a
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in police science, criminal justice, public administration, business administration or a similar field from an accredited college or university is required. A
Master’s Degree in management, business administration, or public administration is highly desired.
Certifications and Other Requirements - Texas Peace Officers must be eligible for certification by the Texas Commission of Law Enforcement Officer (TCOLE) at the Advanced or Master Level within 30 days of hire. Applicants with significant experience from outside of Texas must have the equivalent advanced or master certification from their home state or training and experience equivalent to the advanced or master certification level and must obtain a Texas Peace Officer License within 30 days of hire.
- Proficient in computer software applications, including Microsoft Office and other related software.
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary for City Council meetings, Board and Commission meetings, special events, community events, activations of the EOC, and other unplanned and planned events.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Texas Driver’s License.
- Must be able to report to work in person; this is not a remote position.
