- To have experience of gas and oil fired boilers, refrigeration, and all related equipment in the power house and mechanical floors.
- To hold a valid 4th class Manitoba Power Engineers Certificate.
- Valid 4th class Manitoba Power Engineers certificate.
- Must have knowledge of Power Engineers Act.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must possess the necessary interpersonal skills to effectively carry out the required functions.
- Must be available to work days, evenings or nights.
- Must be able to work effectively with limited supervision.
- Must have the ability to perform other duties and functions resulting in the complexities of new technology and equipment.
- Previous hospital experience in a similar setting an asset. Discreet and confidential in all hospital/patient/resident related matters.
- Adheres to all safety and health policies, regulations and safe work practices.
- May be required to work extended hours.
- May involve exposure to disease, radiation, toxic materials, noise, allergens etc.
- May encounter aggressive and/or agitated individuals.

Position Overview

Under the direction of the Director of Facility Management, and within the mission aims and objectives of Concordia Hospital, the Shift Engineer is responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of the Facility Management Department, stationary engines, and all mechanical equipment such as compressors, generators, pumps, motors, steam boilers, and related equipment in all areas throughout the hospital. Responsible for equipment testing/evaluation, repair and maintenance procedures, providing instruction to users on equipment operation, and maintain accurate documentation and records. Participating in departmental Quality Assurance initiatives and performing other related duties as assigned.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
