      In this position...

      This position is for a Powertrain Design and Release (D&R) Engineer in the Internal Propulsion Thermal Systems Engineering (IPTSE) organization. The areas of component and sub system responsibility range from engine air handling, internal combustion base engine component / subsystem design, to exhaust hot and cold end exhaust systems.

      Examples of the ‘base engine’ / sub-systems are Cylinder Block, cylinder heads, PCV, EGR, Sealing, Covers, Valvetrain, VCT’s, Cam Drive, Piston and Rod, Rotating system, Oil pump & Lubrication, Engine bearings, turbo chargers, intake manifolds, fuel injection equipment etc.

      Qualifications

      You'll have...

      -Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or related degree.
      -Minimum of 4 months of demonstrated interest or experience in powertrain, engine, or driveline technologies thru hobbies, clubs, course work, or work activities.

      Even better, you may have...

      -Powertrain component or combustion engine hands-on, club, or DRE experience-Green Belt certification (or Black Belt).
      -Base engine testing or mechanic experience.
      -1D & 3D CAE simulation methodologies.
      -Base engine Sub-system design & development.
      -Noise Vibration and Harshness.
      -Design for manufacture.
      -Experience with Ford internal PD systems (GPDS, FEDE, WERS, AIMS, SREA, Teamcenter, Etc.) and MS Office Applications.
      -Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
      -Strong leadership ability, able to interact effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
      -Must be willing and able to travel to supplier and Ford manufacturing sites, 10%.

      Responsibilities

      What you'll do...
      -Lead new/forward model product development of the base engine sub system or exhaust for new Powertrain platforms.
      -Design, develop, validate and release components (base engine or hot and cold end exhaust system).
      -Lead/Support resolution of major design, manufacturing, program, and launch issues as they arise.
      -Create, complete, and approve supplier and Ford engine DVPs and oversee testing in support of robust validation.
      -Lead Sub System CPMT activities.
      -Support all program meetings (EPMT, Design Review, DPMT, change control, etc.).
      -Lead drawing release and changes.
      -Interface with Calibration, mating components, Purchasing, suppliers, and mfg/assembly plants.
      -Prototype Build coordination: load forward model part numbers into system and ensure fit and function.
      -You will work directly with suppliers, Supplier Technical Assistance (STA), and launch teams to support programs and resolve quality issues, included travel both domestic and international when required.
      -WERS (Worldwide engineering release system) coordination; alerts, concerns and notice processing.
      -Develop and maintain CPMT documents, including appropriate quality documents (ESOW, DFMEA, PTDV, e3P, SCCAF’s, Global Integrator, PPAP & PSW’s, 543 Chart etc.) for program specific sub-system responsibilities.
