      Job summary

      Litchdon Medical Centre is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our Dispensary Team within our busy GP surgery.

      The role will be for 10 months maternity cover, starting in July 2025, with the possibility of increasing to 12 months as a Prescription Advisor and will be 37 hours per week as follows:-

      Monday 8.30am - 5.00pm

      Tuesday 8.30am - 5.00pm

      Wednesday 8.30am - 5.00pm

      Thursday 8.30am - 5.00pm

      Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm

      Salary:- £12.31 - £12.55 per hour depending on experience.

      Closing date Friday 2nd May 2025 with interviews planned for Wednesday 14th May 2025.

      Main duties of the job

      This role is to provide a safe and efficient service to patients registered with our practice by way of printing dispensary and chemist's prescriptions, processing medication queries from patients, chemists, GP's and other healthcare professionals and dealing with phone calls and emails relating to medication requests and queries.

      You will need to have excellent IT skills. Previous experience of 'SystmOne' or a similar programme being beneficial, however training for this role can be given. You will need to have good communication skills and some customer service experience as you will be dealing with patient's, staff members and outside organisations e.g. other pharmacies and healthcare organisations.

      You will need to be flexible and have excellent organisation and time management skills to keep on top of all aspects of the job and have an understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality and the ability to work under pressure. Excellent communication and telephone skills will be needed and computer literacy skills.

      • Printing of prescriptions on paper, online and via EPS (Electronic Prescription Service
      • Responding to queries from patients, GPs, carers, pharmacies, and other healthcare professionals.
      • Checking emails regularly and processing them regularly
      • Regularly monitoring a phone list specific to medication requests and queries
      • Liaising with local pharmacies and the Litchdon 'Pharmacy Team' on the supply and availability of prescribed medications, and alerting clinicians to any supply issues and sharing information relating to recommended alternatives
      • Establishing and maintaining filing and administrative systems so that written or computerised information is easily accessible and secure
      • Ensuring that patient records are accurate, kept up to date, and that patient information is secure and confidential at all times
      • Meeting targets set by performance appraisal at annual review
      • Compliance with practice Health and safety requirements
      • Attending departmental meetings
      • Other duties as required by the line manager
