      The eHealth NSW Application Virtualisation Services (AVS) team are responsible for providing virtual delivery of applications to the NSW Health network. The services are built on the Citrix platform stack and serves over 120,000 clinical / corporate virtual-app sessions to clinicians and support staff around the clock.

      We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Engineer – Desktop Virtualisation to join our AVS team.

      As a Principal Engineer – Desktop Virtualisation you will provide specialised technical engineering capability aligned with Citrix app-desktop delivery platforms, services, and operational environments. The right person will be the responsible lead for products associated with the Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops (CVAD), Citrix Application Delivery Controller (ADC), Citrix Application Delivery Management (ADM) technology frameworks. Ensuring the development, service design, planning and implementation of complex systems architecture, technical guidance, advisory, and the successful build, operation and running of products or platforms are in alignment to relevant technology roadmaps.

      This role will collaborate and work alongside other eHealth technology teams, technical project managers, security representatives, business stakeholders and eHealth NSW customers to ensure operational products and services are viable and readily available across the NSW Health landscape.

      What you will do

      As an integral member of the AVS team , you will:

      • Lead platform and service level design / architecture, maintenance and support for users and devices managed across the virtual app-desktop delivery platforms (Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops (CVAD), Citrix Application Delivery Controller (ADC), and Citrix Application Delivery Management (ADM)).
      • Lead technical contributor, provide subject matter expertise, and advisory to support project implementations and change management practices for new enhancements and system updates across virtual app-desktop delivery and cloud platforms, Active Directory (AD) domain services / group policies and other ICT-based systems.
      • Lead strategic technology driven developments providing key input to the development of roadmaps and transition plans. Leads discussions across senior engineers and product owners to prioritise design trade-offs and assessing risks to ensure delivery aligns to relevant architecture roadmaps, customer needs and organisational strategies.
      • Leads the team through development ceremonies, to refine, breakdown, size, document and implement complex user stories or tasks using appropriate methodologies, guiding principles and tools that create clarity and transparency surrounding all deliverables including ensuring producing high quality supporting technical and non-technical documentation.
      • Manage the technical implementation of roadmap deliverables in consultation with Product Owners to prioritise design trade-offs and assessing risks to ensure delivery aligns to relevant architecture roadmaps, customer needs and organisational strategies.
      • Leads teams to deliver complex migration, extension, implementation, and transformation activities, that align to technology solutions, services, and components roadmaps.
      • Leads the delivery of large or complex designs that enable the roadmap vision and deliver desired qualities while identifying and developing recommendations that mitigate risks and dependencies that may impact the interoperability across systems.
      • Leads the development and implementation of coding and testing standards, to improve security, functionality, supportability, and efficiency.
      • Manage and co-ordinate complex or large-scale incident management, change request/fulfilment, health check/maintenance, escalations, monitoring, and resiliency testing activities to ensure a consistent high level of System/Service/Product/Platform security, optimization, resiliency, stability, and availability.
      • Lead the vision of the relevant Capability Area Group (CAG) so that it maintains expertise in emerging trends and technologies. Lead the design and development of capability specific education materials and other resources, in consultation with training leads.

      About you

      We are seeking motivated and committed individuals with:

      • Demonstrated and extensive experience in Citrix platforms, Citrix Virtual App-Desktop environments, and cloud (Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services).
      • Extensive experience with modern ICT Delivery and Operational practices (DevOps), including associated operating methodologies (such as Agile).
      • A self-driven attitude toward learning new skills and adopting upcoming technologies as requirements evolve.
      • Strong analytical skills, including ability to interpret complex information from numerous sources and present findings.
      • Excellent communication and organisation skills and ability to balance and juggle competing demands.
      • Strong technical writing and designing capabilities that inform decisions within complex technical environments.
