      The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.

      We are looking for a Process Controls Engineer, responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of process control systems, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems at two tomato processing plants in Firebaugh, CA and Hollister, CA. This role is responsible for achieving optimal production, product quality, and operational efficiency at our tomato plants. The role is located at the TomaTek plant in Firebaugh, CA.

      Key Responsibilities:

      • PLC Programming: Develop, configure, and maintain PLC programs to control various stages of the fruit processing operations.
      • HMI Development: Create intuitive and user-friendly Human-Machine Interfaces to monitor and control plant processes, ensuring operators have real-time visibility into the production environment.
      • SCADA System Integration: Integrate Ignition SCADA system to gather and analyze data from various equipment and sensors, enabling data-driven decision-making.
      • System Design: Analyze plant processes and recommend suitable software and automation solutions.
      • Project Management: Lead all aspects of projects, from data gathering and design to implementation, training and documentation through closing.

      Requirements:

      • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent amount of experience. Specialization in control systems preferred.
      • Requires at least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment and at least 1+ years of control systems experience.
      • Strong knowledge of PLC, HMI, and SCADA hardware and software.
      • Ability to create, read, analyze and develop technical procedures, process flow schematics, electrical, and instrumentation controls and knowledge of communication protocols and devices.
      • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check including employment and educational verification, work extended schedule and weekends during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October, and to travel to sister plant once or twice a week.

      Compensation:

      The salary range is $105,000 - $125,000, based on experience and qualifications.
