      Job Description

      This Chemical Process Engineer III role will be in the Parker LORD APS Division and based at the Indianapolis chemical manufacturing facility. This role will be the technical lead on one or more product development projects of medium to high complexity. This role is in a manufacturing environment, working on short- to medium-term process engineering projects for the Indianapolis site. This role is expected to successfully commercialize new products that meet the customer’s and manufacturing plant’s expectations. This person is accountable for their personal and process safety, ethics, quality, development, and results. The incumbent will collaborate with Parker Lord operators, manufacturing leaders, technical staff, business personnel, and other sites around the globe.

      • Technical lead on product development projects of medium to high complexity. Successful projects would commercially launch and meet customers’ and manufacturing plants’ expectations.
      • Engage often with team members in business, manufacturing, global regions, and technology.
      • Follow the safety, ethics, and quality procedures for the company and the department, while also leading their team to do the same.
      • Some travel is expected (typically less than 10%).

      • Minimum Education & Work Experience: BS with 5 years of experience, MS with 4 years of experience, or PhD with 1 year of experience. Preferred experience in a chemical manufacturing facility, especially manufacturing polymeric materials.
      • Ability to lead chemical technology and continuous improvement projects.
      • Strong knowledge of polymer materials, adhesives, and/or coatings.
      • Strong collaboration skills and ability to participate effectively in cross-functional and global project teams.
      • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
      • Proficient in statistical methods and experimental design.
      • Proficient across several business and technical software packages.
      • Have experience in chemical manufacturing practices and exercise an excellent level of chemical safety awareness.
      • Impact: Track record of completing medium complexity projects. Leads high complexity projects or multiple projects of various complexity. May also lead portions or a major project as a team member. Failure to obtain goals would typically result in serious project delays and considerable expenditure of resources. Independently lead FMEA process. Leading an advanced engineering trial at a critical customer.
      • Technical Knowledge: Applies advanced technical principles, theories and concepts. Contributes to development of new principles and concepts within Parker LORD. Advanced knowledge of products/chemistry, industry, detailed customer application, troubleshooting, failure analysis, or detailed value proposition elements. A knowledge resource for their team. SME in one or more subjects.
      • Problem Solving: Track record of implementing technical solutions to a wide range of highly complex problems. Solutions should generate intellectual property (patents, trade secrets) for Parker LORD. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practical and consistent with organization objectives. Advanced design and execution of any set of parameters. Advanced data analysis, report generation. Expert understanding and utilization of engineering tools, methods, processes (FMEA, process audits, troubleshooting, etc.)
      • Independence / Discretion / Latitude: Works with limited direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives. Assignments are often self-initiated. Determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results.
      • Liaison: Represents organization as prime technical contact on projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations. Coaches & mentors less experienced personnel in technical development.
