      Responsibilities

      This is an onsite, in-person position located at: 4405-101 Ave., 428 Edmonton, Alberta T5J 2K1 Canada

      The schedule for this position is:

      • For approximately the first month, the Process Operator will work Monday through Friday on a day shift to complete training.
      • After about a month, the Process Operator will be moved to a 12-hour rotating shift schedule. The exact schedule will be available after the hire/start date. The shifts will be twelve (12) hour shifts. The shift will also switch from days to nights through the rotation.

      The Polymer Process Operator will work on a team of about 4 to 5 others, with a crew lead and manager.

      The Polymer Department is seeking to fill the role of a Process Operator (S). We are looking for team minded individuals to work in a crew. The responsibilities of this position include operating polymer extrusion equipment, pellet transfer systems, steam/hot oil systems as well as ethylene gas systems.

      Qualifications

      Required:

      • High School Diploma or recognized equivalent
      • Proof of successful completion of the 4th Class Steam Ticket is required
      • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude in equipment operation, process control and strong troubleshooting skills
      • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including completion of routine records and report preparation
      • Competent performance and acceptable attendance in current position
      • Commitment to a safety-first culture; adherence to Safe Work Practices and Corporate Policy
      • A valid Fourth-Class Power Engineering Provincial Certificate is required. Prior to being invited to an interview the candidate must be able to show proof of successful completion of the 4th Class Power Engineering
      • Troubleshooting knowledge and experience

      This role will incorporate the following responsibilities:

      • Run the extruder (polymer is extruded out).

      • Performing quality checks on the product

      Leadership

      • Maintain a relationship with the crew that will allow the lead to represent the crew at departmental and site level.

      • Demonstrate a commitment to the site vision and values

      Safety

      • Independently lead planned safety events as directed by the department supervisor (SIP, Toolbox, etc)

      • Improve the safety performance of the work unit on an ongoing basis

      • Promote the highest level of safety throughout the department

      Training

      • Understanding of the job progressions, knowledge requirements and departmental procedures related to and around the wsion operator roles.

      • Work with the Senior Operator and Specialist to establish training and progression plans for the work unit.

      Execution

      • Understand and execute on all production processes within the work unit

      • Understand and execute the support processes for the department and site

      • Ensure work unit production targets are met on a daily basis.

      • Promote and participate in continuous improvement activities
